Every manual BMW I've owned I've had this happen to me every once in a while. It's driver error, nothing else.

I don't usually go WOT in 1st a lot but when I do I have yet to experience a grinding going into second at ALL in my F80. I never had it happen to me in my 2013 E92 335i either. Only in my Hondas/Acuras lol.

BMW MT's don't like to be rushed like that through the first couple of gears.

My E92 does this. My four STI's did not, nor did 3 integras and two hondas before them.
This IMO is a BMW thing that you have to work around.

The clutch is fully on the floor, I've owned manual cars my entire life. I'm 6'7" trust me I've got long legs, its fully on the floor. If I'm shifting fast it does it. It only does it in second no other gear.

Are you sure you aren't hearing the ebrake bracket grind against the driveshaft? I can punch it in 2nd and it will sound exactly like a gear grind all the way to redline...perhaps you are getting that momentarily when you shift into 2nd.
The current fix is to bend the ebrake bracket but I'm waiting until there is a solution to replace or rebalance the driveshaft because I believe that is the problem and I don't want to be stuck with replacing a carbon fiber driveshaft outside of warranty... |

I'm having a feeling this might be bad synchros... I've driven manuals for quite a while ( Since I was 18, I'm 22 now.) and I've only ran into this problem In my 350z which was known for having back synchros in certain gears.

My E92 335i has done this as long as I can remember. I have learned to avoid shifting quickly from first to second under heavy accel. Interesting to hear the F80's still do it.

My E90 M3 did this, it sucks and kills the fun.
I was hoping they fixed this with this new tranny, but I guess not. Glad I am ordering DCT this time around.

Not normal at all.
My E90 USED to do this, turned out the syncros were shot. Dealer replaced my transmissions and I quickly switched to Redline transmission fluid and what do you know? Second gear grind GONE. If the grind was normal, then this issue would be happening again, it does not. OP, switch to another tranny fluid, IMO the stock fluid is too thick and does not allow for proper slip of syncros. On a side note, I shift from 1 -> 2 near redline and I have a CAE shifter, so there is added stress there as well. Butter smooth every time.
