Drone with DCT M4 MPE+Exhaust Valve controller?
Hey guys
So I ordered the CG Precision VSC-2 Variable Sound Controller (Exhaust Valve Controller). I'm curious to know if there is any drone with the DCT gearbox + MPE. Anyone that has similar setup? Thx Last edited by erind; 07-06-2015 at 10:31 AM.. |

I have a 6MT with the MPE and I'm running w/ the flaps open at ALL times. I get no drone at all at 80MPH at almost 3K RPM. There's just a SUPER SLIGHT hum; but it's a nice hum. The kind of hum that let's you know you have an exhaust.

Surprisingly I took it to the top of 3rd which is about 100MPH and just placed it in 6th and it got quieter in terms of ENGINE noise but the wind noise started to pick up a bit. The car itself actually runs smooth as BUTTER at high speeds; kind of a bad thing lol.

I would assume you will get some drone..
I don't have MPE but I have DCT and have Valve mod done so they remain open.. Once the car hits 7th gear and anything above 65 I get some drone.. I would imagine if anything it will be a bit louder/deeper drone having MPE.. but with the controller mod if it starts to drone.. just close the valves Should be good ...

I think if DCT owners cruised in 6th gear instead of 7th it would go away. But..your MPG would also go away with it lol |

6MT here with MPE... No drone
Just lots of music to my ears and occasional backfires

LOL damn you Euros and basically non-existent speed limits. It's where the fun of the M cars can truly be displayed. Over here we have to do a mad scanning of highway patrol and it kills half the fun.

Funny thing is I barely ever use 6th gear unless I'm on the freeway for an extended period. |

Drone range on this car is between 1.8k - 2.1k.
On DCT, that's like cruising around 65-71 mph on 7th gear. It will also drone at higher speed if you are going uphill. |
