Akrapovic chooses PP-Performance to Flash their F82 M4

Akrapovic recently reached out to PP-Performance in Germany in regards to their ECU tune for the F8x M3/M4. Being the North American distributor for PP-Performance, we scheduled to have the Akrapovic shop car sent here to be tuned. The mods on the car were as follows:

1. Akrapovic Evolution system
2. Akrapovic downpipes
3. BMC Air Filter

PP claims 565 Crank HP with catless downpipes. The M4 was NOTICEABLY quicker throughout the rev range and broke traction all the way to 4th gear. We did not perform a baseline on the Akrapovic car because the car was already equipped with a full exhaust. We will have another F82 in at the end of the week which is bone stock to perform a baseline and then an after dyno with the downpipes, filter and tune. Please stay tuned early next week for results. Please enjoy the pictures from the install

565 crank Hp with those mods and a tune is pretty weak isn't it? Considering several people with dyno sheets to prove are hitting 520-535 WHP (605-615 crank hp) with JB4 and those same exact mods

565bhp on a german Dyno.
The US dynos read extremely high. Much higher than any European Dyno I know of.
Stock cars have max 450bhp.

Very impressive.

Did they snap any pics of the car with the engine out while it was in the dyno room? I'm curious to see how an empty M4 engine-bay looks.

Pfahahaha. Because of crank HP instead of WHP?

Chassis Dynos are much different than yours regarding the output. They are quite accurate. Not like an american Dyno where nearly every (turbo-)car makes more horses than the manufacturer advertises

Looks just like an "American dyno" reading. That link shows a Dyno reading 466 PS (459 hp)at the wheels which is consistent with a stage 1 type tune. However it's also saying there's 101 PS (99 hp) loss in the drivetrain which would be 20% loss to come up with the 565 PS (560 hp) crank.... A bit high for a modern car with a carbon fiber drive shaft.

Can't wait to see the dyno from autotalent. Please include boost and AFR. Always good to have another player in the game.

Does this flash remove the speed limiter and cold start?

The engine is not required to be removed for this tune.

Of course not. But the engine does have to be removed to measure HP at the crank, as they have done.

I'm curious to know the labor hours they would bill and how long it would typically take a technician or two to pull the engine.

Got it. I just sent an email asking if they have any pictures. Will post them here if they do.
