Am I Nutz?
Hey peeps, I've been considering selling my '06 e90 and getting something else... a Chrysler 2008 300SRTD to be exact. I've been seeing some modded ones driving around and I'm really considering getting one. It'll run about $37k-38k fully loaded.
Any of you really tempted to trade your bimmer for something else that's not considered an "upgrade"? It's just kills at me thinking about trading my e90 for a Chrysler though... haha. Sooo nice though. What to do, what to do???

DONT do it. Youll probably regret if you do. I would keep the E90.

I could never see dropping that much money on that car.
As others have suggested though, a test drive is the only way to see if that car if right for you.

.... ...... ...... you have got to be kidding me. I'm the biggest anti-fanboy in the world. I'm the same person who could easily convince myself to sell my 335i for an evo... but a Chrysler 300!? Go test drive one. And report back. Hopefully that changes your mind.
And damn, $37-38k? I had no idea they cost that much. No way. I'd drive a V6 powered caddy CTS before I drove a 300C for $38k.

Haha... I know I get that feeling... but you know just sometimes when something catches your eye, it's hard to change your mind. Maybe if I get berated enough... haha.
Really though, the ride on the 300 wasn't that bad... nothing like the e90, but you know it's a totally different type of car... more american muscle with the retro look.

I say do what you think is right. If you like the 300SRTD (where does that slot in compared to an SRT8 anyways?), then go test drive one and base your decision off of that. Ignore the badge, it doesn't mean everything. The SRT8 is a fast car. It'll outrun a stock 335i and it has character in its look.
I don't know how they drive, or how their build quality is, but considering the price, I don't see why you should pass up on trying it out. Good luck.

Well, the SRTD is basically a SRT with the 5.7 Hemi instead of the 6.1 Hemi. Still lots of balls with a tad better fuel economy. I test drove one and honestly it wasn't that bad. The suspension is stiffer than the lower models for sure.
As for build quality it was something I was really considering in my decision. Right now Chrysler is offering a lifetime warranty on the entire powertrain which makes things a lot better, not to mention a $3k rebate incentive. I'm just trying to consider everything before deciding. Thanks for the help guys. Now continue to stone me... haha. Quote:

im not gonna flame you on this, however...300wise...SRT8 ONLY normal Cs are pretty boring, they dont look that bad, but quality is questionable.....the C is fast, but the SRT8 is better....like eveyone else said, go test drive it.

In all seriousness, that's a really nice deal. Try asking the dealer if you can borrow it for a day or something. Get a good feel for the car. You'll be able to notice any drawbacks if you have more time with it. Personally, the 300 isn't in my taste, but we all have our own opinions.

Absolutely! Get the car... then punch yourself in the face. jk. if you like it, then do it. But I would never personally do it myself. I consider the Chrysler300 the poor man's Bentley because of the grill. Just not my cup of tea.

Some posers even go as far as putting a fake Bentley grill on a 300... as if that car doesn't look bad enough. I wouldnt get one because the only people I have seen driving these are wanna-be rappers with fake gold chains. I dont want to be confused with a gangbanger when I visit USC (for those that dont know, its in South Central LA. Home of the Rodney King riots. Not a safe area of town).

Best way to answer yourself is to testdrive it! If you can live with the handling and everything that makes up 70% of the car. And then you have fuel economy, resale value and everything else u can worry about after you get home and before you write the check

OMG, -why did you get a EUROPEAN SPORT SEDAN in the first place??
Don't get me wrong, but it's like changing between from something that drives really well to something that drives like a boat.

My co-workers have the Charger, non SRT but with the 5.7 hemi and the same transmission as the SRT (5 speed auto).
The transmission seals leaked after about 5k miles and sounded like he had a gear drive supercharger under the hood. I shit you not, the sound was obscene. I would seriously reconsider your purchase if I were you.

There's a reason why Chrysler is offering lifetime warranties...
They're built like SHIT! They know their cars will be back for repairs shortly after they leave the lot. Nothing against your choice but.. I think you're better off with the car you have. Just be happy with it. |

Not to mention the crash tests on that thing. You'd be safer in a mini!
