1994 BMW 530 Faulty LED code messages

Wondering if anyone with an E 34 body type and M60 engine knows how to solve this problem.

When starting the engine the instrument panel LED lists a boatload of system fault messages. This include: license plate light, tail light, break light system, low beam, trailer light (no clue what a trailer light is) and ends up with a message to "check code".

None of these issues are real. I did replace all of the tail, break and backup light along with the license plate lights and internal trunk lights with new bulbs which are the correct voltage thinking the problem might have been a bulb with a incorrect voltage or wattage. No go there.

Once the engine is warm and I restart the engine THE CODES DO NOT APPEAR and the instrument panel LED does not list any of the fault messages that come on when the engine is started cold.

Would resetting the codes with an OBD I reader solve this problem? Any ideas? Thanks.
