If you can only have one then, I would choose the exec package.
It makes the car a much nicer DD. The M5 is an amazing car without the comp package. If you haven't experienced it, you won't miss it.

Exec Package All Day
I just installed the CP sway bars front and back and added the H&R Sport Springs and will have the BMS Stage 1 added for a lot less than the $7,300 BMW wants for the CP and it's worth the effort. This should be a 600hp car when completed and the only thing I can't install is the steering rack improvements. Good Luck!

This isn't a true "sports" car where you buy it only for track days. It's a fast executive car with the capability of having fun when you want to. I personally would get both, but the comp package really doesn't make sense as a city dweller and if you just cruise around about town. The non-CP is perfectly capable of attacking backroads. I think the problem is that we all have watched too many online reviews that push the car to its limit and feel the need to have CP.

it seems like all the true appreciators of the M5 agree that that the exec is an option that shouldnt be missed, the cp notwithstanding. In retrospect and after deliberating with isugoo i must concur and adjust my order with my car sales rep who is placing the order for ED. I know that if i still want to experience the cp thing....isugoo will more than gladly let me drive his m5 for the weekend. thanks guy.....any additional comments are welcome.....love this forum.

It depends on what you want to prioritise.
If you have to choose between only one (and exactly only one), then go with amenities. The base performance configuration already gives you tons of performance. For a premium car like this, it's important to get creature comforts like Full Merino Leather, M Multi-function Seats, Comfort Access 322, etc. etc. P.S. By the way, here's a bit of FYI and trivia for those who don't know. Packages like ZEC Executive Package, ZDB Driver Assistance Pack, ZLP etc etc. are unique to North American markets. In other countries though (i.e. Germany, UK, South Africa, etc.), the options are stand-alone items and usually not part of any package. Hence, options like 5DL Surround View Cameras as well as high-tech safety gadgetry like lane departure and blind spot monitoring are options that are picked and bought individually and are usually not bundled. The only thing that is the same worldwide is the Competition Package.....which is respectively codenamed as ZCP (in USA and Canada) and 7MA (in Germany and the rest of the world) You learn something new everyday =) |

As others said, Executive package is a must! The only thing that I really don't care about this package is Power rear sunshade, but the rest (specially LED, HUD, Soft-close and power tailgate) are fantastic!
I wish M6 had power tailgate option...

I guess I may be the odd duck. I am picking comp package and perhaps a frozen color. I currently own an E60 M5 and I really don't think the HUD is all that helpful, don't really need 4 zone climate or power tailgate. As long as I have comfort access, which is standard, I'm happy.
The only thing is I do like are the LED lights. Maybe I'm over looking something, please feel free to provide any feedback. |

Offering the Comp Pack as standard equipment is fine as long as they don't force you to just stick with 601 wheels. If that's the case, then it shouldn't be a problem. Heck, in your car, you were able to choose Option 2TY (aka Black 343M wheels) so no loss there in my opinion Hehe ask BMW Quote:

You'd probably kill resale potential if you don't have the exec pack. I know I wouldn't consider a used M5 without heads up display. HUD alone is worth the price of the exec pack. I think the HUD is the coolest thing and from now on, my future cars will need it or I ain't buying it!
I just recently took delivery of my 2015 M5 (getting prepped and filmed by Phil @DetailersDomain as we speak) and I thought long and hard about getting the Comp Pkg and I just couldn't justify the expense. I love the sportiness of the car and the Comp package IMHO just doesn't add enough. If the comp package increased HP by 40 or added some sort of sportier exterior presence then I would have been all over it. Or if I planned on tracking the car, it would be a no brainer. But I'm not going to track the car and I rather not have a stiffer ride than what Sport Plus gives me already. But then again, different strokes for different folks. If you have the cash and want the stiffer ride, go for it. If not, you won't miss it. |
