Haas F1 Team
The team is coming together now, slowly:
Their website JUST launched today. There's not much there right now but I'm sure it will continue to be built out Here it is: http://www.haasf1team.com/ The best way to post the latest info is to copy this article here so here ya go racer.com: What was initially known as Haas Formula is now Haas F1 Team. Gene Haas, founder of Haas Automation and chairman of the newly renamed Haas F1 Team, opted for the name change to better correlate his team with its function – Formula 1 Haas F1 Team takes the place of Haas Formula, which will remain the legal entity. Haas F1 Team will be the public and commercial name of the first American-led F1 team since 1986. Its Website, www.HaasF1Team.com, launched today, as did its Facebook page, www.Facebook.com/HaasF1Team. "Haas F1 Team automatically conveys our place among the pinnacle of motorsports," said Haas, who founded Haas Automation in 1983 and has shaped it into the largest CNC machine tool builder in North America. "When you hear 'F1' you know exactly what it is – a global racing series that showcases the latest technology and attracts the best talent in engineering and design. Haas Automation has an excellent reputation in the United States and I want that reputation to grow worldwide. Connecting Haas Automation with F1 in name and in practice when the Haas F1 Team debuts in 2016 is the best way to grow our business and elevate Haas Automation to a premium, global brand." The FIA granted Haas an F1 entry in April. Well before then, ground was broken on a 125,000 square-foot facility adjacent to Haas' NASCAR Sprint Cup Series team in Kannapolis, N.C., that will house the Haas F1 Team. Construction is scheduled to be completed in November. Haas' motorsports holdings include the Haas F1 Team, Stewart-Haas Racing and Windshear, the 180mph rolling-road wind tunnel in Concord, N.C., that is the first of its kind in North America. Founded by Haas, it is only the third rolling-road wind tunnel of its scale in existence and the world's first commercially available, full-scale, rolling-road wind tunnel. Windshear is available for hire to all motorsports teams and auto manufacturers. NASCAR, INDYCAR, sports car and NHRA teams utilize Windshear, as does the United States Council for Automotive Research (USCAR), which has conducted tests on production cars at the facility. |

This is good news for the future of Formula 1 in the United States. They have an uphill battle, though. I just hope the pockets are deep enough to compete.

Please....not another false start. Get it right this time.
We need to forget the embarrassment that was the Jaguar team......They were more successful as the Stuart/Ford team.

It seems to me like Haas will get it right. They've got the money, the experience (Haas Lola F1 from the mid-80s) and the backing in order to be successful.

It's great to have an American team in F1 to cheer for. My hope is that they aren't a back-marker team but can at least give the midfield teams such as Force India and Toro Rosso a run for their money and then eventually go on to be title contenders. It'll take a few years to get there.

Looks like the inking of the deal with Ferrari is now official.
Rumor is that Haas F1 might be a "b team" something like a Toro Rosso is to RBR but I don't think that's the case. Here's an article: http://www.gpupdate.net/en/f1-news/3...i-engine-deal/ |

They can't do any worse than Peter Windsor and Ken Anderson's failed USF1 team (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/US_F1_Team)

Haas/Ferrari makes a bit more sense to me now; I was just reading about how important the US market is to Ferrari. The partnership between the two has been solid now for a bit of time so to move to the technical/mechanical level was a natural one.

Gene Haas: It will be a while before driver announcements.
“It will likely be about this time next year” He also said; "I think fundamentally. Part of strategy is having an American team compete in European venues with an American driver, but the question is, when do we do it?” “Our goal ultimately is to be a successful American racing team, with a successful American driver.” Both for drivers and crew, “We look at every resume that comes it. You wish you could give everybody who wants one a job, but so much of it depends on the window – when you need someone, and at what skill level. We have to match the right people with the right job.” And while the F1 debut for Haas, who turns 62 next week, remains about 18 months away, already he has seen some benefit of his participation to his business, Haas Automation. “We’ve seen an increase in sales of $50 million since we committed to Formula One.” |

Will be interesting to hear who is going to drive for these guys. There's a large talent pool, but I suspect someone from IRL possibly?

Gene is going to be bidding in the Marussia F1 auction, do you think that's a good idea?

I don't know what is for sale but if I was starting an F1 team and another was up for sale I would be there. At some price it will be a good purchase (somewhat depending on what is for sale).

I think they can certainly make some good acquisitions but in the back of my mind I keep thinking "Should they really be picking up from a team that was consistently at the back of the pack?"

I think it's a good idea. Specially if they are getting the cars and aslo the 2015 mock-up. That gives him time to test and develop with something in hand during 2015 and can also better the package form what Marrussia had.
