Auto Enthusiasts: Anyone Been Car Shopping Lately? Chime In!!
X3 lease is now on the "less than a year ticker" and I'm on the prowl for the next set of wheels...
Owned just about every BMW under the 6 series in the last 20 years (look at the sig lol) Don't want another x3, know I'd be bored with it fast. X4 is just an X3 with a different appearance. Test drove the Q5 TDI this week - nice ride..But I'd be bored with it. Don't need another x5 or x6 as I'm not towing a boat anymore..Bored to tears with the 3 and 4 series cars and the 5 is too big albeit a nice autobahn cruiser... I need something with utility so prefer a x-over. But damn, I kinda want something toss-able too like an M3 or M235i... Starting to cast an eye to the SQ5..As sexy as Adriana Lima and can be had for probably $10-$15k less than m3 or m4 and it gives me some utility too..I have two labradors that = 180 lbs I haul around. Or hell, maybe I'll just get a Countryman Allwheel S for $400/mos lease..At least they're a hoot to drive.. Anyone been car shopping lately??

Macan or X5M (I know, you said, but its damn chuckable and has great utility) and call it a day.

If you can live without the options or stomach the price I would say the Macan fits your description well.

After driving the macan i can tell you it blows everything else out of the water. don't bother with the macan turbo and just go with the macan S ( comes in diesel and petrol ). keep an eye out of the options as they can quickly get out of hand.SQ5 is a great alternative but i think i would rather own a porsche.

Yah the Macan fits the bill I agree...Here's my issue with the Macan - and thats price...And they lease horribly..I lease because I cannot keep a car beyond 3-4 years, I get bored. I priced a Macan S not too long ago and it was $5k cap cost (no way) + TTL down and then $900/mos.. I still got a kid in college and thats just too much for us right now - downright irresponsible for me actually.. I might just pull the trigger on the Q5 3.0 if I can't swing for the Sq5..Retail on the Sq5 is about $59k with Nav and the seats I want. Another X3 (even in 35i guise) would probably be boring for me given I'm just coming out of one (albeit with the N20 under the hood). Wish I could fit a couple big dogs in a M235i....Hmm, might have to actually try it to see

Has purchasing a used Honda Pilot or similar vehicle crossed your mind? Then purchasing your fun car to drive when you're not hauling the fur babies around, like a 996 911 or similar vehicle. You could have both the fore mentioned vehicles for the price you're looking to pay for one. I understand insurance and maintenance would play drastically into the finances when owning two vehicles, but i thought I would offer up a different view point. Maybe even a motorcycle and a brand new base Tiguan?

The topgear episode about the Range Rover Evoque piqued my interest, but I heard they are not very reliable. Either way it's definitely a head turner, test drive one for the hell of it?

Okay good point. I just drove the Range Rover Sport and it's a beast. Can't image how special the SVR version must feel. Still would rather have a Macan but by a slim margin

^^ Wow.. was looking at an all-road myself, but nothing beats good old drive-ability
My vote goes for the Macan or M2

I've steered clear of RR due to their poor reliability...But, wth..Worth a look for sure.

I can fit 2 dogs in the back of my 135i. If that's your reservation on the 2er, just do it. Stay away from that Audi. You'll regret it I fear.

Now I'll only be hauling em around once a week (max). Otherwise we have the wifes X5 for them and other duties.. Maybe put the big guy in the front seat and the more nimble 75'lber in the back? Might work for short runs which this would be. I'd really like to keep the M235i on the radar and not let the fur babies kill that all together

Yes sir! I came from an e46 330ci and the back seat is about the same size. Never had a problem pulling the seat up, putting the hammock down, let him in, hammock up, seat back. Got the hammock from PetSmart and it keeps him from trying to get up front with me, too, so that's great. He goes on 1.5 hour rides with me once a week.
