Your opinions please
If you swap out the side markers for smoked lenses, do your taillights need to be blacklines or smoked to be consistent?
I have a crimson red 135i thats about to get satin black wheels. I have the shadowline trim. I am also considering painting the diffuser to match the shadowline trim. Your input is appreciated. Chris |

Blacklines look so much better. Especially with your color scheme.
I need to get me a set.

When I opened the box, the difference between non-blackline LCIs seemed so subtle that I remember thinking the exercise wasn't worth it. Once installed however, the improvement was obvious. I love the look, and can honestly say these are the tails that should have been standard on US 1-series.

I'll never understand people who ask the internet how to modify the appearance of their car. It's your own car, do what you like.

I'm asking for opinions on a specific topic: is it generally perferred to have the taillights match the side markers if you smoke the side markers? I'm asking because I don't have any experience making that modification and want opinions from people who have changed the side markers.
If you haven't changed your side markers or don't understand why I'm asking then don't respond at all...simple I don't understand why people can't comprehend what they read. |

Blacklines look good no matter what. They will help the look of your car, especially with smoke side markers. You have eyes, use them to make your own decisions. Don't get butthurt when asking the internet for opinions on whether or not something looks good. Everyone has different opinions on what looks good and doesn't look good.

I have the blacklines too and love them. They are subtle, but what a difference they make! Instead of all the red back there you have these beautiful dark shapes. They Look like art.

Thanks for the input. I'm just trying to get a feel from others with experience if there is a lack of coherence. I think there would be since you can see the tail lense from the side. I'm leaning toward change them both, or change neither.

I generally hate people who smoke or black out their tail lights. It makes it just that much harder to tell if your braking especially if your lights are weak or on the brink of dying.
Back on the subject.....I would think you would need to match because it would look weird if the side markers were smoke/black while the tail light isn't or if it was the opposite way around. |

If you are going for the blacked out look then it would look cool, but you probably want the performance grill as well. Just don't take it to this level... smoked headlight covers belong in the eighties!!!

This thread is hilarious! OP asks for opinions about blacklines, doesn't get the exact opinions he wants, gets mad, then gets opinions for and against the matching side markers/blacklines, and decides to go with "all matching or no change". Sounds like you'd made your mind up well before posting this thread, lol.

I asked about side markers and taillights and whether they need to match. i.e. if you smoke one, do you smoke the other. This thread kills me. Half of the folks can read and comprehend...the other half see the word blackline, get a boner and think the whole thread is about blacklines. I give up. |
