Is keeping it below 2k rpm light enough for you? Trust me... my eyes are on the instant fuel consumption gauge all the time. I even time traffic lights to avoid stopping to loose momentum.

Is that justification for using more fuel than an M3? Remember, I wasn't trying too keep pace with an M3. I am being extremely careful on my right foot in the 323i. In the M3, couldn't resist the temptation to let it rip. And yes I am looking at the average and the figure I quoted was after a reset. The figure did improve but was still high for a 2.3L engine IMO.

I think you are looking at the instant fuel consumption, which is meaningless. I can get the car up to speed then let go of the gas and let it cruise.... I get 0.0L/100km (equivalent to infinite mpg). I think the average is more meaningful.

Once again I've modified my driving habits. Trust me, I've been driving long enough to know how to save fuel. And I did take the car to the dealer, they claimed that nothing is wrong.

I'm getting so worked up by this issue. It's not so much that I worry abt gas money (although gas IS indeed extremely expensive in Hong Kong compared to north america), but it's the fact that I think something is wrong mechanically. I don't mind spending money on fuel, but the fuel to fun ratio must be reasonable.

is your fuel tank leaking? Either that or you have a lead foot :P. Try shifting around 3k rpm.

leaking will not affect the fuel consumption sensor.....and as i said before........ i feathered my right foot and kept revs below 2000. Problem still persists.
