PhotoShop: easy way of getting these borders?
Members occasionally publish really nice photos 'mounted' on black frames. The effect below is particularly nice, but is there an easy way to do this in PS?

you want border just select your whole canvas with ctrl+A and then go to edit>stroke then select inner stroke then input like 5 or so for a nice border.
make sure you are selecting your bg, canvas or whatever when you do this, and not a text layer or anything that does not fill the whole page. the best way, though, is totally out of pshop and into CSS style. cut down on file size and easily able to change border. .border { border: 5px solid #AEB5BB; background-color: #FFFFFF; } |

It looks like 2 layers to me.
The top layer being the picture, the lower layer being a light gray color and it slightly larger than the picture. Then, go into the layer effects menu of the top layer, and add a drop shadow effect. Edit: Here's my quick and dirty copy-cat. Doesn't look exactly the same, but it's only a 2 minute job.... |
