I'm gonna have to take a closer look at Ferragamos. I also saw that Cole Haan started making shoes with Nike Air without the air bubble visible, so they're back on the list.

Here is what i think you should do: Get yourself to Barney's, Saks, Jeffrey's or any other high end store and go try on a pair of shoes that don't make your feet look like they're 50 inches wide. Stay away from anything square toe-ish. Also, you live in NY, a city of style suffer to look good. It's worth it.

I wear dress shoes everyday for work and do a bit of walking during lunch to grab food.
Being that you are in the Tri-State area and its going to be Fall, I would personally, not look for a pair of Ferragamo's for walking esp in inclimate weather...... The LAST thing I want is for my $400 shoes to get effed up in the rain/snow. I'd look into a dress shoe with rubber soles, and if you are going to be walking to work, I would find a pair of waterproof ones. I have Cole Haan, CK and Johnston Murphy's that I wear. Out of all of them, I would have to say the Johnston Murphy's are the best. And they are reasonably priced. I've probably got about 4 pairs, some leather soles, some rubber, slip-ons and combination soles...... One issue I had was that one of the shoes was wearing on the sole and hurting the balls of my right foot after about 4 months. Now check this out, I called the store and told them what was going on (knowing it had been 4 months and I had wore them 3/5 days a week) I diddnt want them to refund me or anything, I wanted to pay to have them re-soled and the guy says, "bring them in, we'll give you a 75% credit on what you paid for them towards the purchase of a new pair" They really stand behind their product and I will continue to buy JM shoes...you should check them out! For $400, you can buy 3 pairs easily. A pair of slip-ons, and 2 pairs of dress shoes (one leather one rubber) Just my two cents, hope this helps

Ive worn just about all the shoes mentioned and I think you were on the right track to begin with. Gordon rush are awesome shoes for style and comfort. Cole Haans with the nike air are ok but they're heavy. Ferragamos....ehhh theyre alright but the for the price you could get two pairs of Gordon Rush's and be much happier. Bruno Magli's are ugly and they're overpriced. I dont care how much money you have you better love a pair of shoes to spend over $300 bucks for them. No shoes look great after 5-6 months anyway.

I love my Johnston and Murphys. I have three pair, one leather sole, one rubber sole, and one combination. Extremely comfortable, and reasonably priced. Only downside is some of the sheepskin ones (the softest ones) tend to scuff pretty easy.

I didn't read about how long you were walking. I would highly recommend looking into Rockport..great shoes that usually cost under $100. I picked up a 2nd pair over the summer when I interned at JPL, I walked probably 2 miles a day and my feet were completely fine in them. My mom got me my first pair because she wore them when she worked as an RN and even during double shifts (24 hours) of pretty much standing up, they would still be comfortable, she swore by them, lol. I never got a pair myself because I used to think of Rockport as being old people shoes. |

Don't spend too much on a shoe where you're going to walk a lot outside. I wouldn't wear 400 dollar shoes for walking outside on the streets. Personally, I would avoid trendy brands like Prada or Ferragamo for shoes because trends come and go and people will think you're trying too hard. You should just get a pair of classics from a company like Rockport.
