Gyeon Leather Shield on Carbon Buckets

Would a product like Gyeon Leather Shield be adequate to protect the carbon bucket bolsters from wear? Anyone have this one their cars?

I've got silverstone buckets incoming and i'll be coating them with Gyeon Leather Shield. Will probably do 2 coats on the driver seat and 1 everywhere else. Depending on how much is left (50mL bottle) i'll do the door cards as well, as I purchased the full leather option.

My biggest concern is dye transfer (though I rarely wear jeans), and everything i've read says this product should do a good job at fighting it. Should also prevent some wear from ingress/egress as its, in theory, placing a layer on top of the leather.

I'll be honest, i'm pretty nervous as I've always had basic black interiors. But the silverstone bucket seats looked too good to pass up, so i'm willing to "give it a shot." The good news with the silverstone buckets vs the standard seats is we have much more black alcantara on the seats (on the inner thigh bolsters and side bolsters) so these major rub zones should be more resilient and less prone to dye transfer!

The interior of my f80 CS is similar to silverstone. I have no protection on those and they have remained very clean with regular maintenance. So, I don't think having these should make you nervous. I am just worried about the bolster wear (esp by my teenage daughter who rides with me often).

I have the carbon bucket seats and have applied this exact product on them. It certainly helps, but it mostly protects against liquids/stains/oils rather than abrasion. It also makes the leather easier to clean (got some dye transfer on the center armrest, but was able to wipe it off with some cleaner easily).

If you're worried about wearing down the bolsters, I recommend learning to get in and out of the car without rubbing against those parts. Personally, I place my hand on the door sill and essentially "tricep dip" myself in and out of the car.

Yep, I already know that I will be able to take the time to get in and out without damaging.....it's just my various passengers I am worried about. The IND bolster covers look like ass. I was hoping they'd have turned out a bit more stealth or better looking. Oh well. First world problems.... maybe someone will come out with a better solution.

Yeah there's unfortunately no good solution for passengers. I mainly drive the same people around so I've taught them the proper ingress/egress techniques. For the one timers I just tank the wear. I'm 6,000 miles in and there are no signs of wear on the passenger side thus far.

No, leather only. Gtechniq makes a fabric guard. There is also a 3M Scotch Guard or something, but i'd try my hand with the GTechniq first.

I just applied leathershield to my car this past weekend and the application was super seamless and simple. The only issue is, your car stinks the next day after application. It smells like rotten eggs. I’m hoping the smell goes away. I will report back later this week.
