When you said Santa Ana, I assumed you meant wind not temperature.

Oh no the East Coast is getting a storm again!?! Why is it if it even gets sort of cold or there is a moderate rain snowstorm on the East Coast it is national news?

We've had three Tornadoes in the past seven years just miss our house. One touched down about four blocks from us a couple of months ago. It's on the local nightly news people talk about for a day or so and move on. I know many others in the midwest/southern states know what I'm talking about, it is just a way of life where we live. I'm not even mentioning blizzards/regular high wind/hail severe thunderstorms etc. Hurricanes etc I totally get, especially Sandy and other big ones up and down the coast.

Regardless, every one stay safe.

I guess it's because the weather brings everyone to their knees here. Bunch of pansies. And local government does stupid shit in preparation or lack of.

It boggles my brain every winter. A few inches of snow and people freak. HELLO, you live in NY/NJ. It snows here. REMEMBER. Morons don't know how to drive in the bad weather and it screws everything up. Damn NJ Governor called State of Emergency last year based on a FORECAST of snow, and was wrong. Closed schools, businesses for no reason.

Rochester NY - now they know how to deal with snow.

I get it when snow or ice closes down Atlanta or some southern city not used to dealing with it. But NYC? Come on.

I feel for anyone that lives in areas prone to tornadoes. That's some scary stuff.

Seriously? I put mine on last Thursday just in time for temps in the 30s overnight. What are you waiting for, Doc? Aren't you guys supposed to get really cold temps and snow starting tomorrow?

Funny, some of my family lives in Nor Cal. I feel worse for them having to deal with the constant threat of fires and possibly a huge earthquake. At least with tornadoes/blizzards, hurricanes etc you get a warning before they come or have an idea they are developing. We got chased out of a vacation spot two summers ago by the start of the Camp fire IIRC when I was out there visiting family. That was seriously scary shit.

I agree 1000% on the fires and earthquakes. I just didn't mention it because you didn't. Blizzards and hurricanes you get a few days notice. Tornadoes is what, minutes?

We got a tornado warning this past spring. It came up on my phone but I was sleeping and saw it the next morning. "Take cover immediately" I would have been toast. I wouldn't even know where to go. I don't have a basement and the bathrooms with tubs are on the 2nd floor.

The timing of this post is ironic. Monday night I looked at my phone to see the weather forecast. A few minutes later, I pressed the button to open the phone and under my location it said Tornado! And under now in the hourly it had a crazy twister thing. I was like WTF? It was clear, no rain, no wind. And then it was gone. I have no idea where that come from....

I still need to buy winter tires for the BMW. Fortunately, I have a 4x4 diesel pickup in the driveway with four newer Blizzaks on it that I drive every winter.

As a former resident of the snow belts south of Buffalo, I always call the first snowstorm every year here in the NYC area as amateur day and wreck night. The friction ellipse has not changed since last winter, people! Oh, and what is it with new SUV drivers winding up in ditches? The most horrible-handling vehicles in the world don't suddenly drive like Porsches when the snow falls! OK, technically they all drive the same when the grip drops below 0.2g's.

First snow here always results in multiple accidents. Sheeple are very slow to learn and forget what they learned last year. Plus the horizon-to-horizon open fields here make any blowing snow a total nightmare.

So glad I don't have that 55 mile each way commute any more. Just a short 3 mile drive to work now. All seasons on the MB work fine for most days. My biggest issue is the low front spoiler. If there is more than 6" of snow, my car becomes a snow plow.

A colleague of mine, who is also my biking guru, rides to work every freakin' day regardless of weather. He's cycled in to work (10+ miles) in snow. Lunacy. I'm more of a wimp when it comes to weather. If I have to wear 27 layers of clothing to stay warm, I'm driving. Heated seats beat frozen hands and feet every freakin' time.

Not a true nor'easter. This came across the country to us. Now that it's here though it's beginning to take on the characteristics we all know and *cough* love.

lmso northeast especially tri state = entitled fairy fucks. OMG there is 1 inch of snow on the ground...state of emergency. Ive driven through 3 inches on RWD e90s. people simply cannot handle losing traction for a second. Will drive so fucking slow that anyone that had traction will lose it.

murphy brines the shit out of roads and creates this slush that makes it almost worse to drive. honestly snow isnt that bad. but a mixture of snow and slush is quite a slippery slope. only personally the brine gets all over my car and it remains in the garage all winter.

the mentality here it...WHAT ABOUT THE CHILDREN OH DEAR WONT SOMEONE THINK ABOUT THE CHILDREN!!!!

fuckers cancel school for cold weather so there coddled children don't got wait for the fuckin bus

I walked to school in this same "privileged town" in 0 degrees Fahrenheit with subzero windchills...that why "I aint afraid to die, I've done it already" \

a tru noreaster is a blizzard. zero visibility snow fall exceeding 8 inches and snowing all day. not some BS 3-6 inches. that should just be another day at the office

edit: im aware boston and such areas get smacked but they dont seem to panic one bit
