Lions eat meat and they’re strong as fuck! I don’t think it’s meat vs plants that is bad. It’s the over processed meats that are not great for us.

True. However... One could argue humans don't have the same digestive system as Lions.

It's the chemicals used to preserve processed meat. Those things are scary and nobody knows how that will affect your body. Some studies found that process meat is one of the leading causes of Type II Diabetes.

Arnold used steroid in his past so it messed up his heart valves.

Must not watch. It's vegan propaganda, full of lies and silly anecdotal evidence that proves nothing. Just look up who sponsored and produced it.

I'm not a vegan....but my wife is.

But your statement can go both ways even though I don't promote one lifestyle vs. the other

Ever see a Gorilla that looks like he needs "more" time in the gym considering what they eat?

Lewis Hamilton. 6x WDC and vegan. Not endorsing it but knowledge is where you find it.

I'll watch because Arnie/Cameron.

Processing is the biggest problem with meat, IMO. But we as Americans (and me in particular) do eat too much meat as well.

True, but we do have a digestive system (which starts at the mouth) designed for an omnivorous diet.

My wife has been a vegan/vegatarian for over 40 years. She was an athlete when she was younger. She had to introduce fish to her diet for a number of years because there weren't many protein choices at the time other than peanut butter. There are many more options now. We eat a vegetable based diet with some fish, eggs and cheese etc. I eat red meat and poultry but not often. Everything in moderation, including moderation.

He was wining races before he became vegan, so what does his diet have to do with performance? Nothing.

Never said he wasn't. The man, himself, says that he is more lean, focused, feeling better and performing better since making the switch.

Not advocating one way or another but it could make a difference for the right person. I enjoy steak too much to ever go in that direction but I'm open to learning new things.

Listen... I am not pushing shit either way!
My posts in the very thread I started: BBQ and Grilling, are evidence.
In my near 50 years (although I am regularly mistaken for being in my mid 30s) I have absolutely eaten my fair share of red meat. I have researched this subject over the years and the general consensus based on medical studies and scientific facts support that a reduction in meat, particularly red meat, is MUCH healthier and reduced the risk for a plethora of desease and ailments.
I'm not here to sway anybody. I'm simply passing this information along. I do plan to make a conscious effort to reduce my intake of it and include "intermittent fasting" which is also proven to help you live a longer and healthier life.

Some diets work well for some people. At most this movie shows that going vegan doesn't necessarily make you less competitive. But it's all based on really tiny set of anecdotal evidence, and it's hard to take it seriously. They also don't account for other factors. You can't compare junk food diet vs clean vegan and claim vegan is better. You need to compare it to clean meat diet and account for other lifestyle factors. If Lewis switched from burgers to salads, he may feel better because his diet improved overall, not because he gave up meat. And even that it's worthless, because it's subjective, self reported and sample of one.

In general eating less meat is always healthy. I found that I generally feel a lot better if I eat a lot more of vegetables vs. meat, but I do need a bit of meat here and there otherwise my body would go crazy. I don't think you need to go 100% vegan, but may be 70% veg. and 30% meat and maybe a little bit of homemade milk:-)

I need to warn all of you that this documentary is mostly propaganda. The athletes featured in this documentary are NOT Vegan anymore. Most of them eat fish.

The producer of this documentary invested 100+ million into a "pea protein" farm prior to making it. Look it up.

Also please watch this Joe Rogan podcast before you destroy your health by going Vegan:

If you want to be healthier, cut out processed carbs, sugar and vegetable oils. Eat more wild fatty fish, seafood, and some grass fed red meat and eat some organic low starch vegetables. I would avoid chicken and other meats high in omega 6 fats as well.

Al vegans end up at least adding fish back to their diet whether they are willing to admit that is a different story.

And red meat is not bad for you as long as it's not factory farmed and as long as it isn't grilled/overcooked.

A grass fed piece of beef or lamb has more healthy omega-3 fats in it than a piece of wild salmon.

If anything avoid the high omega-6 meats like chicken. And always avoid seed oils like canola. It's the worst.

My wife's dietary choice came about when she was in her teens, it is primarily based on ethical choices, but she doesn't push it down anyones throats. In fact she cooks me steaks etc. When she was training a lot she just couldn't get enough protein from tofu and peanut butter so eggs and cheese got back in and then fish. The woman can cook too and she likes doing it so that's a big plus for both of us. Make health choices, everything in moderation including moderation. I've seen a lot of fat unhealthy vegans.
