I don't think it's different enough to justify its price tag.

Yup. Still don't think it's worthy. I got sick of the first one pretty quickly...but that's probably cuz I played the shite out of it in such a short time...

COD and R6V are COMPLETELY different games. COD is run and gun, R6V is stealth. I'm tired of run and gun games. I love R6V2.
Add me on XBL and we'll play sometime, ajousooner. I've only gotten to play through the first 4 stages I think though, I've only had about 4 hours in the last few days to play because of working late then hockey games, but maybe this weekend. |

I wouldn't really call R6V stealthy...even that series has devolved into a somewhat more mainstream type of game. Still, much less of a run-and-gun game than COD4, you got that right.

Well, true, but I think it kind of depends how you play it also. The newer games ALLOW you to play run and gun because none of the impatient kids could play Rainbow Six or Splinter Cell before.
I guess it's evolved to less stealth, but it still is a skill game rather than a run and gun. Like I said, you can play it in different ways, but if you saw my stats, you'd know how I play. My Marksman stats are off the chart because I like to use cover and split between a scout and a high accuracy scoped assault rifle. One thing I have noticed in the R6V2 though is that they do MAKE you run into rooms more now. Especially on terrorist hunt. You'll never get everyone unless you make noise and push them out or go in after them. |

I think what Bimmer Loyalist is saying is that the game is more like Vegas 1.5 than a full-blown sequel "2" which would justify the $59.99. I don't have the game myself, but I've read people complain about this a a lot.
And by the way sometimes a release that's not a "full" release is priced at less than $59.99. Two that immediately come to mind for the PS3 are Warhawk (multiplayer only component) and Gran Turismo: Prologue (prequel to the full Gran Turismo 5 due out later this year), both of which are priced at $39.99.

I loved R6V1, so I think it's worth the cost, but it's the same as any sequel, it's going to be similar, and if you didn't like the first, you probably won't like the second. Everyone I know who liked the first has loved the second, but I do know what you mean, plenty of people think it's too similar, but COD 1-3 was all the same until 4 too, there's only so much you can do to change a sequel in a shooter game.

IMO, they go from best to worst like this: 1)1 2)4 3)2 4)3 2 was fresh in that it provided a next gen feel. Everything was bigger, "better", and more beautiful. 4 is obviously all new in terms of content, while still maintaining the overall formula. 1 was just kickass. First PC shooter I ever owned (but played CS a lot before that).

Either way, COD has been a good series. They've kept it fun even if the game wasn't much different. I was a tester for Activision with COD for a little while and had a blast doing so. It's probably the best series of shooters there has been. They keep it simple and fun. |
