I keep my early 2011 macbook pro plugged in all the time so the battery is still like new. I upgraded to SSD so it's actually faster than stock running the latest MacOS. I would imagine if you run it off AC power all the time then the state of the battery shouldn't matter, only when you run on battery might there be a degradation in performance to extend battery run time.

Suckers!
$252.3B

Apple makes great products that people love. This battery issue will be resolved. It's a stand up move to give customers a $29 repair, because they could have been a lot more difficult on this.

The $29 repair is keeping apple stock from dropping further.

Mine was plugged in 90% of the time also.

The market didn't react to this story when it came out. The reason the stock is down slightly is because traders are booking gains for end of the year and there was some fake news on iPhone X demand being low.

Everything will be set straight when they report in January.

Nah I don't need or want the built in screen as it doesn't work with the rest of my setup. Can just get a macbook pro and tuck it anywhere, keep it plugged in and it works just fine.

Plus if I did need to take it somewhere in a pinch I can.

One issue I e had with Apple is a previous lawsuit required them to replace batteries in the 6 that were manufactured in about a two month period. When one of our 6's had terrible performance at 18 mosbold the Apple Store stated it needed a battery and it was $80. Under $50 I would have done it but $80. I bought aftermarket on eBay for $10 and replaced myself. If battery replacement was thought of and priced as a maintenance item it would be an easier sell.

Every single lithium-ion device has his issue. After a few hundred cycles it simply cannot output the peak current when it was new.

Apple is just deciding to limit the current draw from the battery versus having the spontaneously shut down.
