Used to have this grand scheme that on leg days I would jog over, do work-out, jog home. Neglected to remember the bridge in between home/gym on the first (only) time I went thru on that scheme. Jellies don't work on the downhill section of the bridge.

Me too. I used to walk 2 blocks to my NYSC - rain, sleet, snow or hella cold. Loved it. No bitch ass excuses for hitting the gym less than 5 days a week.

This is a first world problem here, but I went to a newly built gym for the first time over the weekend. It was awesome! Brand new equipment, ONE other person using free weights, all good.
Problem: The knurling on all the new equipment is so damn sharp. Which isn't a huge deal, just slightly more uncomfortable. BUT, the only straight pull up bar (not the curved, fancy grip/handle bullshit) has knurled grips. Good lord that thing tore up my hands. That's my annoyance. You can call me a (|) now. |

When the squat rack is directly behind the mirrored wall where the Dumbbells are located. Chick spends the entire time doing butt stuff (giggity) and looking around to ensure that people are watching, while I have to stare at the ground during my entire arm day. And it's not so much that I have to stare at the ground, it's more that I don't want to give her the satisfaction of looking at her mediocre (at best) butt. She'd be lucky if Paul Bunion liked those flapjacks.

Not sure if it was discussed before but I cannot stand when guys/girls use the squat rack for something you do not need it for!
Also, not sure if it's an LA Fitness thing but why does everyone feel the need to workout literally right on top of you?! Countless times there would be multiple benches open and someone will pick up a set of free weights and stand so close to me that I don't have any room to do what I was doing.

1. Scared-cat rounded back deadlifts.
2. Quarter squats. If you can't hit depth just put the bar down. 3. People who say they can leg press 1,000 lb but bitch about knee pain during squats. 4. People not reaching full ROM. 5. Bro science douchers who recommend supplements/diets with no scientific knowledge to back it up. 6. People who don't return to straight arms after pull ups. 7. Guys who pull 10 pieces of equipment into one area for circuit training. staaaahp. 8. People who box the air. 9. People who try to do flagpoles on random pieces of equipment. 10. People who try to max out the weight on cable exercises. 11. 16 year olds who attempt 1RM's on the daily. I am now a crossfitter(used to hate crossfitters). All these problems are gone. There are 60 year old women at my gym who hit squat depth every time. While douchbag wannabe bodybuilder tools are no repping the fuck out of any barbell exercise at commercial gyms. |

It's awkward when you're in the sauna at the end of a workout and the guy that was chatting it up with all the girls starts going off on wanting to slam their pussy. Ugh. |

The weirdest fucking thing to me is when someone asks me how many more sets I have, and I offer for them to work in with me, and they say "oh it's ok, I'll wait", and they just stand there waiting for me to do my next two or three sets

I just saw this thread for the first time and felt compelled to post.
Some of these may have been covered already, don't have time to read all of them. 1. Gym equipment is not furniture! It is not a place to sit and have a conversation, or send texts, or look at the internet. If you ain't working, get the f@%# off. 2. When you do heavy dumbbells, when you are done, don't drop the Fu@#&ng weights on the ground. I used to do this too, until I had a 50 something year old gym owner, who said, "if you have to drop it, then you can't handle the weight". He is right. When you get to the bottom on the last two, rock the weights forward and push up, the weight will pull you up. Sometimes you have to drop it, don't be the douche who drops it so everyone will look to see how much weight you were holding. I say holding because nobody was looking until you startled them with a loud noise, you probably didn't do one rep, you just dropped them for attention, don't be that douche! 3. If you have less than 300lbs on a bar on any lift, and you grunt, or scream, or make any loud noises, you should be asked to leave. I should say if you ever make one of those sounds, but sometimes it helps to get the weight up. I am changing it to 400 or more on bench, and ,500 on squats. 4. I saw this mentioned, but it can't be said enough. The people who put a shit ton of weight on squats or leg press and move it about 4 inches, what are you working, you knees? People who do heavy curls and look like they are Fu@&ing the air, are you doing curls or trying to work your core? I could go on, but those are the big ones. |

Lots of great points, but for the most part I don't mind much....I have two oldie but goodies that annoy the eff out of me though.
1. As many have said, dropping weights in any shape or form is retarded. However I do understand the crossfit section, buts that not real exercise anyway... 2. Total disregard for gym etiquette, you saw me using the gotdamn cable machine, I turn around to get water and you jump on it and then ask with a dumbass look "oh were you on it", or worse nothing. Fucking under developed peasant, gtfoh.... This video has most of the other crap that annoys me, enjoy. |

Man, tough crowd...
1. I drop (not throw) Dumbbells on my last rep of heavy (for me) shoulders (100s) and chest (120s), unless I have a spot and sometimes I don't 2. I grunt when doing Max weight 1-3rep on flat bench and it's not 300 or 400. 265. Declines are 315-335. Not sure where you guys started but I started bench at 135. Different perspectives I guess. |

If you're dropping on the last rep, probably too heavy, you need a spot or you're muscles are too fatigued or tired. I grew up lifting in Military gyms, you throw weights you get yelled at so you learned to handle your weights, unless you're in the crossfit section then buy all means, hold them over your head and release them from two meters up. I wil say that I don't mind a grunt here and there, if you're really working that is normal. But I don't do such heavy weight with such little reps, t's an injury waiting to happen and not the best way to build muscle. So yes different perspectives, which is why you're perspective as a gym goer whoever you are shouldn't interrupt other's workouts. Gym's pretty empty at 0300 am, might be a great time to go and throw weights and yell(not talking specifically to any one person). Last edited by Blksnowflake; 03-04-2016 at 04:53 AM.. |

Take a look at Arnold's Encyclopedia of Bodybuilding if you haven't. It is what I live by. If you've plateaued is only relating to your routine. I don't believe you need incredibly high weight to build muscle, but if you want to be strong, power lifter like, then that's something else. |
