Lease return question
My lease is about to be over in my 335is and soon to to receive new m3. My question is how lenient is BMW when it comes down to returning the car back.. My car was in great shape until this morning I found a dent on my hood I guess from someone sitting on it or whatever.

I had a 335is- with 6 months left on my lease.
I took advantage of the early turn in ( BMW eats the last 6 payments) I had non run flats, and a nice little dent on the hood as well. It cost about $1000. Make sure you get a note in writing that you have no liability whatsoever for the car once you turn it in. I got a bill from BMW for the excess wear about two weeks after I took delivery on the M4. It took a dealer visit and some arm twisting to get them to do what they agreed to when I returned the car. My car had about 22k mileage after 30 months of driving- which also helped. Personally I old not commit to the new car till you've handled the liability on the lase return

IMO it's not about relationship- it's about them wanting to sell you a new car.
If they try to charge too much, just hesitate and say you'll take the car home and think about it.

each dealer is different. Most dealers will be pretty cool about minor things like small scratch or ding normal wear and tear however the big sticker is the tires. tires need to be in decent shape for the most part or there is a good chance they will make you replace them.
take the car to your dealer have them look at the dent. Ask them what their stance is on it. If they say it needs to be addressed ask them how much they would charge you for it. Then get a quote from outside vendor and go from there. that would be my route

I ordered my car through a broker rather then a my local dealership because there is no MSD in NY so I had to allocate the car through NJ.. Would it be better for me to call the broker or should I make an appointment with BMW to inspect my car.. Cars lease is up end of May and I don't believe the M3 would be here by then. Also my car has about 20k miles on it right now.

I'd like to think relationship matters some, or else I should have not bothered to thank my CA for a great euro delivery transaction with a bottle of Moet |

Officially they have this little gauge thing, and if it fits inside a certain circle diameter (2" or so), its no charge. If inside the outer circle its $200 or something, and outside that is $400 or something. Some dealers have tried to act cool, but in reality the policy is pretty lenient.

Each dealer is different...my 335is had tune on (cobb), black reflectors, scratch on the side, and minor other things. Dealer didnt care because payoff was about 39K and bmw sold them the car for $32K. Dealer fixed it and sold it a week later for $42K (or about, this was the selling price)

But not when it comes time to purchase a new car. At that point the gloves come off. DO you like your dealer enough to pay a couple grand extra for your car? A few hunned, maybe...

Went from a lease 535XI into an M4 Vert. Told the dealer to make the deal, they had to take the XI as is, there were some minor issues and the tires were minimal but they will make money on the return.
