Microsoft Product Keys
So, I am getting 2 new laptops, and I need MS Office running on both. I have Outlook 2007, so, basically I only really need Word & Excel now. I am going to buy MS Office Teacher & Student off the shelf...
Questions is this...can the software be installed on both machines, without issue, or do I need a second product key? |

If you own both laptops
AND If you are only using one at a time You are reasonably legal having it on both.

Microsoft Office Retail version will legally install - and be able to be validated - on two computers. Edit: Teacher and Student version is three licenses. Windows XP or Vista will only install on one. Edit: Here's the FAQs from Microsoft: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/pr...CL100796341033 |

I just purchased office for students/teachers for our Mac. And you are able to legally have this installed on 3 computers of your choice. In order to do this legit...the package already comes with 3 different product keys included. So, you just choose one per computer and you are all set to go.

I believe so, with the latest version (2007?). It should say on the product itself when you buy it. I don't think they would provide this feature for Mac and not for Windows...I think its a teacher/student edition feature. I know for sure for mac...but you may want to do some google work for windows if you REALLY need to know now.

I know on the student edition if you install the key on more than one computer if on a network you have one computer with MS office open and you try and open it on another computer that has the same key you will get an error saying your key is in use in the network and it wont work.
http://www.theultimatesteal.com/home.asp Tip for students get office 07 for $60. |

Your buying a grey market copy that may or may not be a legal copy. You take your chances when you buy software like that on eBay.

Specs look good. Don't bother with more than 2GB or RAM, you won't notice any difference. |

i did the same with office 2003 pro. bought the student academic version for $120 too back in the day. on ebay the retailers with student pricing rights. they require proof of academic such as school schedule, acceptence, etc but most of them don't even ask for it. example: http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-Microsoft-Of...QQcmdZViewItem you can register office 07 pro 2 times, originally for one desktop and one laptop but w/e you want. |

Your presumption that only one copy was legal is incorrect, and that using only one computer at a time would make it legal.
MS Office is good for two installations for the retail version (preumably one is for a laptop) and three installations for Student/Teacher version. |
