No pics, but here's the parts I used:
Win 7 pro Fractal Designs R4 case Asus Maximus VI Hero mobo Core i7 4770k GSkill Trident X 16G ram PC19200 Antec 850 pro PSU Samsung PRO 128G SSD Corsair H100i cooler EVGA 550 GTX (existing, works fine for now) Love the boot speed, got it up to 4.5G OC stable. Huge improvement over my old Q6600 at a total price less than my old system.

I'll probably catch some grief from some of you techies for this, but oh well.
Platform - Alienware Aurora Operating System - Windows 7 Home Premium 64Bit Processors - Intel Core™ i7-4820K Processor (10M Cache, 3.90 GHz) Memory 16GB (4 X 4GB) Quad Channel DDR3 at 1600MHz Keyboard - Artikuno something or other Monitor - Dell 24'' Ultrasharp Video Cards - Dual 1.5GB NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760 GDDR5 - NVIDIA SLI Enabled Mouse - Microsoft Sidewinder Optical Drive Single Drive - 24X CD/DVD burner (DVD+/-RW) w/double layer write capability Sound Card - Integrated 7.1 Channel Audio w/ $20 Logitech speakers lol Cooling - Standard Liquid Cooling All I really use it for is finances and Counter-Strike:GO and photo editing. Does the job. Plus it illuminates a bunch of different colors when I turn the lights down to get dirty with the old lady. Ambiance enhancer, haha. |

Also, what you consider elegant is different than what I may. It also depends on the size case you want. ATX, mATX, ITX etc all have different size constraints. |

A properly ventilated and air cooled case, with the right amount of space for air flow, and fans placed in the right locations, will work just fine for most users and even most gamers. This coming from someone who has had watercooling on PC's before. I prefer my setup now, without water cooling, just for ease of use. Cleaning dust off is much easier (to me) than replacing coolant/water and all the trouble that comes with it. If you really need the juice, and really need to OC a lot (hardcore/graphics intense gaming, pro video editing), then you need more efficient cooling. For your casual user, watercooling is not necessary.

It definitely serves its purpose, and then some, haha. I went a bit overboard when I got my new job and splurged on a few things, and the computer was one. I could have built something for probably 1/3 of that, and I've caught a lot of grief for buying the overpriced shell, but I love it.

You planning on OCing off the bat? I have been toying with the idea of trying to, but I literally do not need it to be any faster, so I cant justify shortening the longevity of the system. |

That's the first thing I did, lol. I didn't keep it though, I only tried it to see how far I could get. The ASRock utility makes it very easy. I got the CPU up to 4.2 GHz. I didn't try any CPU benchmarks, but it worked fine playing games and general stuff. I got the video card up to 1075/1450 and played some games on it with no issues. I can run all of my games on ultra settings on my 1080p TV with stock settings though, so I'm going to leave it stock for now. |
