Actually, space is premium at Japan, and this type of parking garages are very common there...

+5... so many things I see here now are old-school to me after spending a year in Japan. Saw these types of parking spots at apt bldgs, cell phones with over-the-air TV on them...

Listen I don't know how you New Yorkers deal with parking. I worked in SF for 3 years and parking was a nightmare. And I'll bet SF doesn't come close to NY in degree of difficulty and expense.

Parking in NYC is terrible. Especially in Chinatown. The chinatown in Flushing is not as bad because there are a few Municipal parking lots. When I travel in Manhattan, I prefer to take public transportation. Even if you do find a spot in Chinatown, you have to worry about your bumpers getting dented/scratched up. The spots are really small.

I visited SF last year and the parking was actually better there.

Did you notice that the guy put his hand on a power transformer and called it a back-up generator!! LOL

Back to the topic: You probably will see a lot more of this kind of parking facilities in major cities in the next few years.

Nice. I saw a video of a system like that in Tokyo - I think it was Modern Marvels or something...

What I like about that is there are no valet monkeys to abuse the car and no dings because humans aren't needed in the actual garage space. Like I said, nice...

Lol this is the parking lot on baxter street in case someone wants to check it out. They built the parking lot along with the new condos next to it. Nice to see they correctly identified the area as chinatown and didn't try to play it off like the company initially tried to do by calling it "SoHo".

I think this thing is called the "Silo". It is VW's storage facility in Wolfsburg.

You wouldn't want the robots to fail in these type of parking lots...
