Anyone Else going from M5/M6 to F8x M?
Just wondering if there is anyone else coming out of a higher M car to get the M3. I had a 13 M6 Coupe, that was bought back under the CA lemon law. If i still had it I would probably still be trading in to get the F80 M3. Just a better balanced car and more my size.

I made this move 4 years ago. M5 was a great car but I prefer the size and lower weight of the M3. Hurt to sell it with just 21k on the odo but I've never regretted the switch and I won't get an M5 again until I've got grown kids which is a long way off.

M5 to M4
i had an M5 F10 for a year before i sold it. the car had nice features but felt like a whale on winding mountain roads. i now have an F458 italia and will get an M4 next year.

The Italia is on my list to get in the next year or two. I loved the technology in the M6, but as you said it is a whale/boat in the turns. No matter what you feel the weight of the car. I'm excited to see how the F80 M3 compares to the E90 M3, of which I had two.

I may be. Have an F10 M5 now. Thinking of an M3 next. Had 2 E90 M3's before the M5. Just too big of a car for me. To be honest, for such a large car it is pretty small inside.
Looking forward to a more nimble daily driver again!!!!!

Count me in. I'll be trading my F10 M5 for a F80 M3. I have no regrets with the M5, I think it's a great machine. I just have a new car buying addiction and my garage will only hold so many cars.

I have had an E60 M5 for about 4 years. I will probably hold on to it until competition package M3 comes out (unless I get a Tesla...can't decide between the two).
I preffered the handling, steering and ride of my E46 M3 much more than the M5. But M5 feels like a more solid car and I love the V10. New M3 will be perfect for me. I expect it to feel nimble and light, but with a solid feel and much newer tech. I don't think M5 is a higher level M car just because of price. M3 and M5 meet different needs. M5 is an absolute monster. I've enjoyed every mile driven, the M5 handles incredibly for a car of its size. I'm considering a trade in for an F80 M3 since the new M3 will come close in terms of straight line performance with better agility in corners.
I will miss all of the luxury options the M5 has. |

I realize that it hasn't been that way since probably the E30 M3, but the mystique of the ///M brand as that image I described over has managed to carry over for over two decades. To add all those luxury items would only dilute the experience.

Great thread!
There's only one practical reason why I'd trade in the F10 M5 for an F80 M3, tracking the car. On the street and in the mountains, the F10 wins. The sheer amount of thrust I used to feel on epic mountain roads has not been matched by any car I've ever driven. I'm talking WOT throttle pulls at over 130 mph in the M5. It's unreal how fast this big and heavy 4 door sedan is. On the track it's a different story. The F80 M3 will win all day long. I've driven the F10 on the track before and it's just too damn heavy to be consistently enjoyable. Note however, I didn't say it's too slow or it's not fast. I've easily lapped E92 M3's with the F10. But it's a lot of hard work and simply not as fun as the M3 is on the track. M The F80 will absolutely shine on the track with it's 800lbs less than an F10 M5. Hopefully the 2019 G30 M5 will close the gap on the weight advantage with the M3, by being under 4,000lbs for the next M5. If I were the kind of guy that just wants to track all the time, I'd get the F80 without even flinching. From a daily driver perspective the M5 is the better car. Much more luxurious with a lot of little things that make it nicer to live with, but with one exception, the size of the F10. It's a pretty big car! The size if the F80 is much more practical. One thing is for sure though. The F80 M3 will never sound like this and will not be making over 700hp like my M5 is currently making. Horsepower, a huge exhaust note, and massive torque is fun too.

I love my M6 CP even with a stock tune and just DP's it's faster than my old tuned 2010 GTR , has great steering feel , massive stopping power from CCB's , sounds beastly , and has the best interior I've ever experienced in a car . The exterior is one of the most beautiful too . Nothing not to like , and the M3/4 certainly doesn't offer me anything more appealing than what I have . Would I trade for an M4 GTFO lol .
