Ever seen the 'remote not detected: start not possible'?
I've gotten this remote not detected message now 6 times since I got this car in January.
Have to keep hitting the start button until it usually after a few times will allow a start. It's been to the dealer but of course they didn't see it happen so they can do nothing. Just curious if this is an issue others have seen. I did a search and didn't see anything. |

Every once in a while when I am rushing out the door, happened this morning.
The solution that has worked so far without fail is to go back inside and get the keys to the BMW instead of the Volvo (which are very similar but for some reason are not interchangeable). |

I also noticed it once in a while, i just think it's when the key fob is out of reach from the car that you get the warning. Normally when i get it, i just fish out my fob and hold it near the key symbol of the steering column.
(I usually have the key in my left jeans pocket) |

And FWIW, I too have this issue on rare occasion even when I have the right key. It always fires right up as soon as I pull the key out of my pocket and hold near the steering column. |

You guys have your keys on your butt and sitting down when you hit the button ??
or are you holding it with your left hand while trying to pull the door at the same time as hitting the button ? The system works pretty well for me: even when my keys are in the backpack sitting on the rear seat or on the floor, or in my wife's purse, and the car start pretty much everytime...

I only get that message when I toss my backpack with my keys in the trunk. Otherwise the key is either in my pocket or the cupholder and I never have a problem.
Maybe try a new battery in the remote? |

Phone will def. interfere with the key fob and can cause that error message and also the comfort access not to work.

My question is, with all the people that are grabbing the wrong key, how are you getting into your car in the first place? Doors unlocked already?
Only have ever seen this message when the key is relatively far away from the column. |

Happens once in a while, when the key in either in my pocket or in my briefcase. Then a few seconds later car starts just fine. Not really a problem. Of course if it started happening every day then that's a different story and could be quite annoying.
Drove 3 different MB models before this BMW and never had any issues with those cars. Solid as a pipe. |

I've only gotten it once when the key was in range. Happened the other day with me sitting in the drivers seat and key in my pocket. Weird, and I just hit ok and it found it immediately.

The only time I have seen something similar is in winter - when I turn on my car to warm it up, then go outside the car to clear off the snow. It says remote control not detected, but once I get in the car, it goes away, like you would expect.
No problems otherwise with detection. I keep my keys in my right pocket with my wallet. I use my left pocket for phone.

Weirdly enough, I usually see it most when I am at my friends house picking him up. With the car already on, when he opens the passenger rear door and gets in, that's when it displays for like 10 seconds, then goes away. If he gets in the front, never happens. |
