Why doesn't the M235i MPPK make 335bhp?

I have a 2014 435i on order with the optional MPPK. MPPKs for N55s manufactured before July 2013 make 320 bhp. Manufactured after July 2013 make 335 bhp ( http://www.f30post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=901371 ).

Obviously all M235i models are manufactured after July 2013, and have the MPPK as stock equipment. Why doesn't it have the higher output kit?

I'm pretty sure the M235i doesn't come with MPPK it gets its extra HP from the different crank shaft in this N55. Can someone with knowledge of this please confirm if this is correct.

The additional power from pre July 2013 to post July 2013 comes from the changing of the downpipe. All N55's made after July 2013 have a 4" downpipe as opposed to the 3.5" downpipe that was standard pre July 2013.

As to why the M235i doesn't have the same hp output as a 435i with MPPK, I really have no clue. Then again, they're 2 completely different cars that share the same engine, you can't expect the output numbers to match exactly.

Thanks. I think that that is the first time I've seen an explanation behind the extra 15 bhp - makes sense.

Also reaffirms the belief that the M235i is simply underrated at 320hp. Which could be the case for any number of reasons, most likely of which is marketing and avoiding cannibalization.

Out of curiosity, where did you find the information about the increase in downpipe size to 4"?

Mike at N54tuning I believe was the first to post it, but then other vendors that sell downpipes started posting the same thing.
