The perfect finish...
Everyone tries to save thousands for a vinyl wrap by spending hundreds on plastidip....what if I told you you could get the perfect finish with $10 worth of sandpaper? Teaser pics:

Reserved for results
Promised results: doesn't shine quite like black would, but at least there's no more orange peel. And one of the car... Last edited by timmyc; 03-17-2014 at 12:23 AM.. |

people use vinyl and plastidip so they can preserve their original paint finishes to sell the car later on.
also, you didn't use an orbital. wouldn't this cause the finish to look uneven in sunlight? edit: I thought you were going for the matte look! lol. Nice job getting the imperfections out. Last edited by uber; 03-17-2014 at 02:22 AM.. |

A sanding block would work for equal pressure over careful application (and for that type of caution I'd prefer the manual care over power when dealing with sand on clear coat), that said, I see only a piece of sand paper itself.....

Yes! wet-sanding. Thank you for using our product
That size grit in addition to 2500 and 3000 are used heavily in the automotive industry for clear coats and paints.

Can't wait for the finished product! I'm actually in the process of wet sanding as well but I'm only filling in rock chips.
For everyone confused, this is what OP is trying to achieve.

It is actually a common practice for high end cars and a good idea if you want to get rid of the infamous orange peel on BMWs. However, you should be using a hand tool and a touch of soap.
