My cf front end

Hi guys (and gals), just got a cf Varis replica front lip installed along with M Performance cf mirrror covers on Mineral Grey to go with my cf grill. Have not seen this look yet so thought I would share it.

I am after subtle aggressive so keeping 403's for now and seeing how lip holds up around the crap roads where I live before considering lowering. Would love it a little lower though. Also looking into cf rear diffuser and exhaust soon. Just have not decided on which exhaust to go with.

Love how all our cars are different. Take care all.

Hi Amjam, I agree I like the cf look with Minerall Grey (obviously) it is just more sublte, can hardly notice the mirror covers unless you look closely. That is not to say I do not like it on other colours at all.

To answer your question it sits 3.5cms lower than the side parts of the front bumper. I bought mine from JL Motoring not ebay by the way. Not cheap to ship here but I like it.

To be honest I ordered the M Performance lip in cf and was expecting that and then JL Motoring e-mailed me and said they had this new Varis style lip that they had just started making, which personally is what I always wanted. So I said yes please send me this one. Do not think it is even on their website for sale.

But you are pretty low already aren't you. Is a lip going to be more trouble that its worth?

I know I like to punish myself. I think the Varis is the lowest. But it looks hot

Macca,
Absolutely love the look of the carbon fibre front lip. Looks superb!!
I'll be very interested to see how you go with it on your "crap roads". Please keep us posted.
Do you have CF rear spoiler as well? I'm not I believe this with a road car, but some say that after fitting a proper front spoiler/splitter, a rear spoiler is necessary to balance the handling.

Will do. So far so good.

No rear spoiler. Have heard this as well regarding handling. I am no racing driver so I can't tell the difference in handling, well not yet anyway. Was not planning on getting it but you never know. Figured if it was such a big issue BMW would not sell the lip and spoiler individually.

that replica looks amazing! how much is JL selling for. I've been eyeing that lip for a minute.

...nevermind just found it http://www.jl-motoring.com/BMW_F30_3...p/bmfs3023.htm
$599 isn't bad at all! Anyone with a AW M-Sport want to buy my pre-painted M Perf front lip for $400?

Hi mate, yeah that's the one. I sent them pics once it was installed yesterday to give them a look. Never knew they were going to put pictures of my car on their website!

Fit was pretty good too. Good luck.

Macca,

Out of interest, exactly how is the new spoiler installed? Screws from the bottom of spoiler up into the existing body work, or with special clips?

It is put on with screws Steve. But Stu from BMR could tell you better as he installed it. I believe the screws supplied were not that good so he actually bolted it on. Seems very solid to me.

Thanks, Macca.
That gives me something to work with. I was thinking of installing myself.

They supply screws which require drilling into the bumper but personal experience, I have had a lip come off with only screws, so I used some bolts (from a Kerscher lip) so it goes bolt + washer on the underside and washer + nut on top of the lower edge of the bumper.
Then, the screws are required to keep the top edge of the lip nice and flush against the bumper.

Stuart,

Many thanks for the installation run-down. Makes a lot of sense to use bolts, and ensures you don't run over your own spoiler if the screws fail!
Can you tell what the nut and bolt sizes and lengths you used? I assume you used stainless steel?

Thanks

No specific size for the bolts but these ones had a 10mm head and were about 30mm long.. I'll pm you.

Nice, That CF suits it well. The Varis lip makes the car look so aggressive. Yeah the CF mirrors are hardly noticeable, still looks nice. Might consider it.
