Bmw Defect Notice!

Hi guys,

Just got a letter in the mail today citing a Safety related recall due to possible engine vacuum pump failure in the N20 engine

It says this may fail due to insufficient lubrication which very rarely may lead to loss of brake power assistance

Anyone else got this??

The issue has been known for months, but official recall here in Australia, only a few weeks.
All owners with potentially affected cars will receive a notice in due course.

I should receive a notice as well.

Could be you're getting a software update that was queued for the next time you brought the car in.

I got a letter as well, though this was sorted before delivery, before the official recall even started in AU, so props to the dealership.

My understanding is that not all cars are affected but if it is they need to swap camshafts.

I thought, generally after software update, your previously saved settings would be wiped (idrive settings... would need to be re-setup)

I had to reset my date and time when I got the car back so not sure if that means it's been updated. Anyone know the latest software version?

my F31 was built in early June 13 and is not on the list, looks like there were only 91 F31 sold until 31/5/13.
