Tinting, Perth (NoR)

With my car arriving in Perth tomorrow at 6am (), I am now starting to organise the nitty gritties.

OptiCoat is booked in for the Thursday after the Sat 7th delivery (yes, I did look at others, had a chat with Raj from TWD and decided to stick with the plan), now I just need to organice tinting as we're coming into Perth's hot summer.

Any recommendations for tinting companies in Perth, North of River prefered? Also, recommended tints? I think the 135i got a ceramic tint, from memory. Happy with that, not a mark on it after 5 years.

I have asked the dealer if they're prepared to deal on their pricing, as $700-$800 was just silly, we'll see what their response is.

They have agreed to fit the CF trim for me, but one can only ask

Just over 2 weeks to go!

nice, I just got a quote for opticoat pro with paint correction for $1000 and tinting from tint-a-car for $500, are those reasonable prices?

Dealer wanted to charge $1500 and $1000 for nano paint protection and tinting respectively.

Are you gonna do any interior/wheel protection?

Mate, my quote was $550 including prep for Opticoat plus $240 for the alloys. I decided against glass or leather protection for now after some discussions with others.

Opticoat glass was quoted at $200 for all windows including mirrors. Leather and vinyl was quoted at $300.

I think the $500 for tinting is around what I was expecting.

damn, that's alot cheaper, the guy quoted me 880 for prep and opticoat pro. 1000 all up for that plus paint correction.

Why not the leather and glass? any downsides?

Well, maybe Perth is cheaper for once! :-) We'll see how it goes, hopefully all good. Will obviously report back when done.

Basically, no leather treatment because I don't have kids, usually don't eat or drink in the car, also because its the Merino Individual leather and I just don't want to risk it, to be honest :-)

The glass, because I can always RainX it in the winter and there have been some reports of bad effects that I saw, so just a bit nervous about it. I may change my mind on that one though :-)

Twofor

Hey Simon

Please let me know how you get on with the tinting quote.

I am looking at getting mine done too and maybe they will be more competitive when quoting on 2 cars instead of one.

Cheers

Paul

See reply from detailer just now: "If there is some minor stuff which only takes half hour or so, then that is included. If there is more work involved, then there is an additional charge. Generally it's only just the black strips on the pillars as they are quite soft. The rest of the paint is quite hard."

I do think it's a bit unfair to quote a fixed price for rectification, maybe see if they can lower base and then pay an hourly rate for any work required?

Time is money GAVE90 - I'll happily pay someone $550 for a whole day to prep and apply opticoat and take the wheels off and do the alloys too. My time's more valuable than that!

Bloody dealer is useless (or, to be fair, both that department and the finance department is), still haven't got back to me about the tint negotiations.

So, during a quiet lull this afternoon, I did my own research. Didn't like Tint-a-Car's lack of info on their website, so did a Google and found mention of TKO Tinting in Carlisle on good old Whirlpool. Highly recommended, good website, lots of photo examples and very responsive to a request for a quote via Facebook message

So, booked in for Monday the 9th at 1300 for 2-3 hours @ $345, with HP Supreme 35 (darkest legal).

LOL, I spoke to Trent yesterday and he was the consummate salesman. Looking forward to getting it done. I was thinking I would get a darker tint on the sunroof glass

Perth is good, but it still needs to grow up. Council needs to grow a set and take advantage of the weather and lifestyle, like Brisbane.

Hi mate

DOT now allow down to 20% VLT on windows rear of the B pillar.

Have you thought about going darker on the rear windows?
