What SMS's look like on Nav...

Hi all,

Now that I have finally got SMS notifications working, I thought I'd post a few pics of what it looks like in real life

Here's what the notification looks like when you receive an SMS on a Nav screen (see the envelope on the RHS, in the status area):

I have a Soft Key set to go to the Messages Page in 'Office':

If you're not moving, you can open the SMS and view it:

If you are moving, you get a message like this:

If anyone's interested, here's a video of the car reading the SMS (accessed by pressing the PLAY icon, with the i-drive controller). You can, alternaively, call the sender, using the other icon:

If anyone wants, I can do up a pictorial 'how to' as it took me ages to find the hidden menu

and, just maybe, I'm not the only one.

great work, now the test is whether the sms notification will show every single time you start the car? mine doesn't.... i have to change notification number/restart app to get it recognised on the new messages (email/text)...

Okay, I'll keep an eye out and advise. Though, things are a bit quieter at work at the moment and I'm not getting as many messages as I used to. I'd SMS my friends to test it and they'd be out, so I'd get their test messages when I got home etc

First world issues, I know.

You still have to close the app on the phone after it has synced with the car, EVERY time.

Absolute pain in the bottom.

Or go into Settings - Notification Center - Mail - Include and then change the amount of unread items to show in notification center (1, 5 or 10)

I got this working yesterday and don't believe I restarted the Messages app on the iPhone between then and this morning when it definately worked again. Or do you mean emails? I'm not bothering with emails, they can wait

However, I will test this afternoon and advise.

Sorry, yes only for emails.

Text messages are automatic.

Dabaitu, probably not. Maybe I had a 'thick' day, but I couldn't find the option from the messages I'd read on it. Maybe I'm a visual person?

Wonder if coding can allow messages to be read while car is in motion?

Messages can already be played back while the car is in motion, you just can't see the text.

SMS also worked fine for me from day 1. Not sure what the deal is with the hidden menu for you guys

. On pro nav there's also a Messages menu under Office.

Me too, I have also had emails from day 2(that took a little longer to get working).

I have an Iphone 4S BTW.
