Tyre pressure

Got low pressure warning at Lithogow and thought was puncture tyre. But realise the rear tyres were extremely low at 280kpa for 403m 19". Pumped it at petrol station using 325kpa knowing it is not accurate anyway and check w separate personal digital gauge reading 310.

What is the normal pressure number to dial in for your 403m sport tyre?

Checked that an it is 270 front and 320 back.

Just measure the pressure and the rear are already dropped to 295 from 310. I will pump the tyre before leaving Bathurst and take my car for service request

Just don't want to leave my car in Bathurst until Tuesday at least

just keep the tyres pumped high. I assume its the seal when they installed the tyres instead of a hole int he tyre

Hi KT just wondering if your tyres are holding up ok. I got the tyre pressure warning on the weekend after only doing 1,400 kms. Hope it does not become a recurring problem. My right rear was down at 260kpa, all other tyres seemed fine. If it keeps happening I assume I can use the tyre and rim insurance I took out with BMW to get a new tyre. Just a hassle thats all.

If my math is correct that is 255 kpa. When mine went down to that the tpms went off saying it was too low.

So far since pumped up in Bathurst two weeks ago, no warning lights, we probably fully loaded with weekend camera gears, bags, my partner and a dog.

I use my own gauge bought at supercheapauto to monitor every now and then. My rear 19" is about 290. Did notice the slight leak from both rear valves. My rear right is a new replacement tyre after suffering double punctures in two consecutive weeks from BMW tyre insurance. Bummer to bring the car to the dealership though.

My phone app concurs with your numbers.

Too low??? Hmmm. When did you reset your tpms last?
Not that I follow protocol, but the tpms should be reset each time you correct your car's tyre pressure. Perhaps it needs a reset.

Wow!!! Lucky I don't have BMW tyre insurance. Not meaning to be mean, but your post reads as if BMW tyre insurance caused the double punctures!! LOL.

Seriously, that is VERY scary. You were VERY fortunate to have the insurance, not so with the punctures. How much is the insurance cover?

Guys, we don't have the TPMS in Oz. We have the rotational speed system which, iirc, gets the data off the ABS sensors. So, there's no need to reset it when you re inflate or adjust tyre pressures.

haha, my bloody phone post! i was fortunate enough to be surrounded by bloody apartment construction site in the booming Alexandria/Erskinville in Sydney.

the bmw insurance i signed up costs $5/week for 3 years ($900 i think in total) and covers up to $1400 for tyres and i think similar amount if the rim is damaged coz by tyre punctures. so far i had one tyre replaced (the first one was a very short thread screw that didn't puncture through, but the second one was a long one about 4cm long on 19" low profile, not much room at all...

so bring me another one i am still covered for the year! which i really don't want!

I agree. Not sure what system we have in Oz; may not be the TPMS but the onboard manual told me to reset it after I inflated the tyres post the tyre pressure warning. Better to be safe than sorry and just reset it I guess.

Okay, well, as I don't have my F30 yet, I defer to those that do. I will stick to us not having TPMS though

We do not have TPMS as standard on our cars.

The easiest way to tell is to look at the valve stems, if you have rubber ones then no TPMS for you.

we do not have the TPMS in Australia. As stated, ours is just a rotational sensor.

Ok, so the system obviously still needs to be reset, even periodically it seems. I forgot we don't have the TPMS, thus not able to 'code' the actual pressure to show up on the screen display, like they can in the USA.
