Where the hell can I recycle antifreeze/coolant?

While undertaking the timing belt job on my project/beater e30, I've accumulated a few gallons of old coolant that I need to dispose of. Thinking Autozone (where I recycle my oil) would do this, I call them to ask. Only to get denied.

I then tried my town, to see if they had some sort of hazardous waste collection, but again, denied.

Does anyone know of a place in Mass or RI that takes old coolant? I'm located in Southeastern Mass (Swansea, near Fall River)...15 minutes east of Providence and 45 minutes south of Boston, if that helps.

I did find this, http://search.earth911.com/?utm_sour...dvanced-search, so that's promising.

Thanks fellas!

HA...figured I'd get some of these responses. I like my neighbors too much.

Meh, Charles River is too far of a drive. Toilet, now that's a great idea. But it would probably destroy my septic system and I can't afford $15k for a new one. How about some legit solutions.

Hope everyone is joking or else these wise response are childish.

Your city/town should have ones or twice a year to dispose fluids. Some auto part stores will accept them also.

Bring it to an autozone inside an oil bottle and then leave. They don't care that you bring coolant and by the time they figure it out if it was an issue for some reason you're long gone.

Probably the best answer so far.

Definitely not the first time I've heard this idea and it's not a horrible one, either. Waiting to hear back from a buddy of mine on what company disposes of their coolant (he's a mechanic at Mike's Auto Body in Fall River).

They warn you about how bad for the environment this shit is and to dispose of it properly, but then why the hell do they make it so goddamn tough to get rid of it the right way? It shouldn't be this much work for me to find some way to get rid of it. Pisses me off.

If you have a local mechanic you use, ask him to dispose of it for a few bucks. That's what I usually do.

I don't, unfortunately. I do most of the easier stuff and will occasionally use the dealer for the heavy lifting items. My neighbor, whom I don't really talk to, owns a shop. I can try and chat him up and see what he can do for me.

Thanks man!

Sometimes I am not sure about the "just dump it" answers. I hope they are said to be humorous.
Most importantly remember that dogs will get into an open container. Guaranteed death sentence. FYI to those who don't own the pups.

Take it to the local Walmart. They have a log book you sign and you can leave oil / coolant.
