change to idrive look and feel

I took my bmw for service due to a passenger restraint system fault. The dealer ended up replacing the passenger seat and reprogrammed the vehicle.

I noticed after the reprogram that the idrive look is different than what it used to be on my 06 330i

1. the idrive default screen doesnt' have that brownish orange color. it's more monochromatic
2. the color scheme of the different menus has changed
3. the NAV screen shows a circle around the arrow which indicates position and direction.

I'm not sure i like the change, but more importantly i'm wondering if the dealership reprogrammed with the wrong s/w id or possibly even with an earlier s/w id. (the service records show they tried the programming twice and failed and it worked when they tried for the 3rd time)

the service advisor is supposed to get back to me... but would appreciate comments if any from this knowledgeable board. Does the 07 335i have the idrive feel described above?

TIA.

Yes, all idrives that are upgraded will look like this. There are some added features. Now you can say "Navigate Home" and it will automatically give you nav directions to your "Home Location". Also, you can search within the POIs. For example, if you are looking for a specific grocery store, you can navigate to the Grocery section and then spell out the grocery store's name and have it find ONLY stores with that name.

There are several other improvements including speed-ups, etc.

Wasn't it determined that "Navigate Home" actually triggers "Navigation On" - ie, start navigation to the destination last selected?

To the OP, your iDrive was indeed upgraded, not downgraded. No worries. But I do agree that the new colours are somewhat dull compared to previous versions.

dude, flashback, I went in for the exact same thing (passenger restraint malfunction) and got the upgrade too.

Upgrade is lovely, although I did find one major FLAW!!!!
if you were playing an mp3 CD and you start the car, there will be a 1 sec pause about 10 sec after you start the car. This can be very annoying after several times you notice it and specially on a bmw.

stupid ass bmw coders!

thanks all for the responses.

i find it odd though that instead of improving the menus, and things like the buggy bluetooth f/w they have, they chose to change colors. There are a few bug fixes in the latest release however, but i've never experienced any of them.
