Some info after 12 month service
Just got my car serviced today and thought to let you guys know that there is a recall on the F30 to fix a software glitch that can cause a "meltdown" according to the rep. 3 hours to update the software and all the coding was wiped clean including saved radio stations and settings. The service man mentioned that it can cause strange behavior in the electric parts of the car. Also I enquired in the 30k oil change and they said that it is a BMW only synthetic oil with a much longer life than ordinary brand oil. Also they will not change the gearbox oil as it is a sealed unit and designed to never have it changed (they said the same thing on my 2004 Jag and the box failed at 60k). Anyway I was given an E90 loaner and I can honestly say that the F30 is far superior. The ride and steering was so stiff on the E90 it felt like it had no power steering at all. So glad to get back into adaptive suspension with VSS.

That all sounds like standard dealer bullshit mate!
Let me know when you want the coding done on your car again mate. At least we'll be able to get the ASS sorted. Let me know when your next day off during the week is and I'll come down. Haven't heard much of our old mate Amjam lately? Be safe. |

Just a quick one. Will BMW service check the car status especially if we code the car like ass remember last position, etc. and wipe them off by default in return?

In my service they did. They said there was a required software update to stop things like the wipers coming on by themselves. It wiped everything except for the music I had stored in the hard drive

KT, they wont check the car to see if any coding has been done but if they have to do any major updates, as they did for Drk280, it can wipe the coding.
However, I am at your service (within reason) if they do happen to clear something |
