Moving to NY from MI

Hey guys!

My name is Jaye from the Great Lakes section. I have a MB E350 now, but I've had a 2008 e92 XI for quite a while before I sold it (hence my presence on the forums). I'm moving to NYC from MI in October. A little intimidating since I've never moved outside MI and also because I don't have many friends in NYC! Anyway, I'm looking at apartments in the UES, UWS, and the Financial District. Do you guys have any good recommendations on what there is to do in NYC? I'm interested in... how does one go about making friends? I only have 1 good friend in NYC that works more hours than I am awake.

Thanks cuties, in advance.

yeah there is some fun things to do in some places depending where you go, like manhattan is nice and some parts of every borough. Youll be making friends in no time especially when attending meets

Thanks but I'm not going to have a car when I move to NY. I'm selling my E. I hear there is no where to park in NY anyway. I don't think I'd be able to attend without a car???

Yes, but exactly what can I do as a young woman by herself? I feel like NY is such a big city and everyone is too busy to stop and say hi. Here in MI, I've never had to worry about making friends.

Getting bored or making friends are not common NYC problems. Have fun!

I would ask you to join the e90 tristate fb group but there's gonna be a lot of leg humping in there.

go to car meets, meet all the people (aka ALL GUYS) maybe you'll meet some friends that way.

clubs, if you're not the club types, go to lounges? car events?

A metrocard will be your best friend. It will allow you to get around whenever you want, at resonable cost. Good Luck, and welcome to the " Big Apple. "

Cutie. I'd cab. Where is Westchester? I'm only familiar with Flushing, UES, UWS, Manhattan, the financial district, and Central Park area. Union Square has that Max Brenners with amazing chocolate yummy

Cutie #2. I don't even have facebook. I'm not a fan of social media or taking photos. Weird, right?

I'm not dead set on Manhattan. Rent is super expensive... I looked at an apartment complex in UES and it was $2,800 for a 550 square feet flat.... I definitely would like something cheaper. Know anyone that needs a roommate?

When is the next car meet? Not into clubs, thanks, and thanks NYalpine90 for the club suggestion as well.

I did my undergrad in EE and going into law school in 2014 (deferred a year). I've been studying/working so much so I have really come to enjoy of quiet time. I always love a classy restaurant, but I'm not sure how I'd look at Capital Grille by myself (although I've done it before in MI).

These photos are of me a few years ago. If you see me wandering around NY, please make sure to say hi!!

Uhm need a more recent picture to ensure 100% of recognizing. Live outside of the city and invest in a metrocard.

I look about the same only with longer and lighter colored hair.

UES is my favourite place in NY! Only it's super expensive

If you are cool with no car then I would say best neighborhoods to live in the city are West/East Village, SOHO, Tribeca, Chelsea. Easiest for subway and so much to do in those areas.

If you want to try and keep your car I would look a bit into Queens or Brooklyn. Still very nice areas to be found and you can manage to have a car.

you are a chick? i think you will be fine.

as for apartments you could afford, NJ is probably your best bet. hoboken means you are a short walk to the path train into the city, you probably will be able to park you car for relatively inexpensive rates.

edgewater would have similar benefits and is populated by Asians.

yep, that last part sounded racist only after i typed it out.

She did say UES, that neighborhood is not asianated so she don't mind the demographics of it.

Uploaded. I have quite a few metrocards due to my recent endeavors in NY.

Do you know any guy that types/talks the way I do??? I mean... my screen name is PANDACUTIEJ!!!! Well, to be fair, most of the Great lakes section guys thought I was either a 1). gay guy or 2). troll before they actually met me in person.

I need something close to UES. I have personal business that puts me in contact with Cornell Med. School every 2 weeks and I'd need to be able to cab there at a decent rate. I've already decided to sell the E. I love her but I don't need/can't handle her at in my life right now. Plus, all she does is depreciate.
