Tinting in Vaughan/Richmond Hill?

Anyone know of a decent place to get a tint in the Vaughan/Richmond Hill area?

I was going to go to iTint.ca but unfortunately the owner, Don Steranka passed away suddenly a couple of months ago.

Don was a good at tinting and had been in business for 25 years. He will be missed.

RIP Don.

Richmond Hill - Thornhill tint / Audio Heaven
Vaughan - Lazer Tint (near Maranello BMW)

I had been to Lazer tint (no complaints) & Audio Heaven (really crappy job done on two cars - bubbles & half ass job and had to go back couple of times to get it re-done).

But the place I really prefer is Auto-links in Scarborough

Non ceramic tint - $200 @ Audio Heaven. Actually, Jeff will give different prices depending on how you ask. He will jack up the price first to around $250 and if you ask for a discount, then he will tell you it's $220 or something and if you mention car forum referral, he may drop it again to $200.

Ceramic tint - namely, F1 pinnacle - $300 to $350 range.

Auto Links - $300 + taxes
Lazer tint - $350 + taxes (not sure now but that was the price about 3 - 4 yrs ago)
Thornhill tint - not sure they do ceramic tint. I asked them about 1 year ago and the guy says just regular tint for about $250

I read about Thornhill Tints and that they apparently do good work.
I'm considering them myself but being a nube to tinting, what is the difference between regular tints and ceramic ?

Hi guys, where would you recommend for installing 3 M chip guard?

And will the price be better if you do tint and 3m together?

Thanks

regular tint has a tendency to fade after a while of sitting in the sun.
i will upload a picture of my SUV later when i have a chance to take a picture showing the difference (at the time of tining the suz, the darkness was equal front and back but after owning it for 9 years its very very noticable (back looks like 30% tint and front looks like 50%)

also, ceramic tint blocks out more UV radiation vs regular tint which measn the inside of your car does not get hot quick

last thing is SUPPOSEDLY regular tint has radio interference with standard radio and sometimes keyless entry ceramic doesnt.

i know some people who use regular tint on BMW's and its totally fine with keyless and radio. my toyota has been fine for years so thats why i say "supposedly"

Hello,
my name is John I am the manager at Auto-Links

Thank you firstly for the great feedbacks for us, that means so much to me and we appreciate the kind words.

To clear up the different type of films:

Dye material (Sungard, Solargard, Suntek, etc) is a basic construction of dye film to create the tint. This is still a good quality tint however it will fade over time (3/4+ year period) just as if you left any other item outside in the sun (i.e. a black sweter) over a summer it will fade right away.

Metallic material - no longer popular film on the market due to interference with cell phone, gps, and factory keyless signals

Ceramic material - Best on the market this film is constructed nano-ceramic technology that does not interfere with any electronics however still provides the maximum heat & UV rejection . Will not fade or change colours like any other films. FormulaOne Pinnacle is the one we sell which is the best on the market. Llumar CTX is an equivalent and there is also the Huberoptik however the huberoptik is actually a commercial film not designed for automotive. There are some shops in GTA installing this looks great does have a more green/blue colour rather than a black/charcoal colour.

Paint protection items:
1st generation film:
3M Ventureshield, Scotchgard, Llumar, Solargard, etc. Older technology, will stain, will yellow, etc.

2nd generation films:
Avery Nanofusion, XPEL, Suntek, Premiumshield
Technology advances in everything. The 2nd generation films ARE BETTER: Stain resistance, water repellancy, easier to clean/maintain, will not yellow, will not crack/fade, BETTER CLARITY
We use the Nanofusion currently this is an amazing product and worth every dollar.

TOP GTA TINT SHOPS:
-Us of course
-Audio heaven - Bruce is an amazing installer I have seen a lot of his work top notch however I am not sure about the film they are using there the solargard I Have seen personally a couple cars done with solargard and after a few years is extremely faded
-Thornhill Tints
-FX AUTO

Best paint protection - Not many places offer full hoods and full bumpers. This work is VERY tedious and attention to detail is most critical. Aside from us I believe Marco at Advanced mobile is the only other shop in the GTA doing these packages. (with good results). Kevin and Marco are top guys too.

Hope that helps!
Thank you and cheers,
John
