M Performance Suspension

I finally managed to get this kit on the car. If you're dissatisfied with your F30 suspension then I thoroughly recommend this one. Its been reviewed to death on the suspension forum, but to reiterate what most are saying, the car feels much more planted. That general feeling of floatiness is gone. It now feels much more like my e92 on sport suspension, but taken up a notch or two. Ride is also still pretty compliant, comfortable enough when cruising around, but point the car at some corners and it really eats them up. Overall, I'm satisfied, its what I expected and more.

If you're considering this just be aware that the kit has not yet been approved by BMW Aus, so you will need to source it elsewhere and find an independent specialist to do the install. There's probably also some warranty implications in that as well.

Also be aware that the front sway bar does not simply pop out (like the E9x). You need to drop the front subframe to do the swap (considerably more work).

I may take some photos later. The car sits higher than it did previously (it was on H&R sport springs before) but I actually prefer how it looks now. It's got a nice aggressive stance without looking retarded.

Would you mind disclosing how much it cost? Parts and Labour?

Thanks.

Parts were around $2400 for the suspension kit, springs, and front and rear sway bars. Installation was another $700.

Nice work with the suspensions. Didn't think they costed that much. Wow.

Thanks mate. I think if you get the US prices for the parts, factor in shipping, import duties, exchange rate etc, its actually pretty reasonable.

Install was also pretty decent I thought. It turned out to be about 9hrs labour, so I don't think they'll be doing it again at that price.

Is this the kit that doesn't come with springs?

The M Sport suspension is just the standard 10mm drop?

Sway bars would help a lot with the "planted" feeling. Nice work mate. Suspension mods are underrated by most IMO but so worthwhile you usually wonder, "Why didn't I do that earlier?"

They're separate part numbers. You need the retrofit kit, the springs, and for non M sport cars, the front and rear sway bars.

M sport is 10mm lower than standard and the M performance another 10mm lower than that.... and compared to H&R sport its 10mm higher

Yeah definitely. In fact it would have been much sooner but for delays with parts and later the install. I actually kicked this whole thing off back in January Totally agree about suspension mods being underrated, best mod to date for me!

Sounds awesome!
btw did you not consider aftermarket options for suspension ie KW, Bilstein etc? and if so why didnt you go for them?

Im running Bilstein PSS10 myself and yes the F30 really needs suspension mods and they helped heaps.

Thanks mini. I considered aftermarket but liked the idea of a setup tuned specifically for the car, plus something with some decent R&D behind it. Warranty was also a consideration initially, but given its not approved that probably negates that.

If I went aftermarket I would probably have gone with the Bilsteins with my existing H&R springs, and waited for some decent sway bar options to show up.
