Anyone in Oz ordered Merino leather?

HI all,

On the verge of committing and was wondering if any of the F3x drivers here have ordered the Merino leather?

I am getting the Estoril Blue and the options re leather are kind of limited. All black Dakota just looks too black to me, so was discussing with the dealer team and we came up with the BMW Individual Merino ZASW/ZASM combination, which is effectively matte black leather with light grey piping.

Anyone do anything similar or use this particular combination?

haha just replied to your other thread SimonB.

Yes J1n is telling the truth, I did order the Merino leather in White. It looks absolutely stunning - just search my other thread titled "Custom Order 328i" for pictures.

HOWEVER, it is IMPOSSIBLE to keep clean so I'm glad you ordered it in Black, so much more practical. The biggest culprit of staining my leather is actually denim and any newish clothing that is still bleeding colour. I've tried numerous products so don't get me started. Going into the dealership tomorrow to get the headlight washer misalignment looked at so will find out if BMW knows much about how to keep their own Merino leather free from stains.

Don't forget to take some lovely pictures of your Merino leather when yours arrive.

Screenshot get your hands on some Nanolex leather and fabric protectant. To get it clean before hand there is great Maguiars product

Gold Class leather cleaner and conditioner. It comes in a pump pack and cleans and conditions the leather I used it on my oyster leather in the 5 Series it works very well.

Once you have done that get the nanolex and mist over stains then just wipe off with a moist cloth.

Thanks again guys (you two stalking me?). I have the Space Grey in the 135 and it's marked on the drivers bolster, so I was pretty adamant that I didn't want anything light in the 335. I'd heard (and been warned by the dealer re denim), so the white was out too :-)

When I saw the 328 in the showroom in EB and black Dakota, however, I just knew I wanted something different as it was too black, in my view. I already looked at the Merino in the BMW book and they had a 520 with it in the light brown (Cashmere?) and I liked it. I have to give the dealer manager the credit for the black individual with grey piping option. The book doesn't really show it well, but the BMW configurator does quite well.

Some advise for those still toying with options, don't ever download the BMW Individual iPad app, it's depressing to see the options we don't get in Oz. I always wanted my initials on the headrests! (Kidding there, but serious re the lack of colour options)

the bmw individual brown were quite nice too. I was tempted to get one of the individual brown but the price and LCT, i changed my mine back to Dakota Black on M Sport F31. Instead got the adaptive lighting and comfort access.

everytime i see individual stitching and especially on the door trim, i am so JEALOUS!

Hey thanks for the advice AMJAM. What a coincidence, cos I just ordered a bottle of Nanolex leather sealant from CCP and am picking it up from their Murrembeena store tomorrow.

Coincidence no.2 I have a bottle of the Meguiars Gold Class Leather conditioner/cleaner pump bottle. It smells a bit funny. I think I used it on my old E46 beige leather with little success so ever since it's being sitting idle. Are you sure it can remove dye stains?? Maybe I need to try it again with a brush.

When you say "get the nanolex and mist over stains", do you mean that the Nanolex can remove/ cover up stains or to spray it over the leather to prevent future soiling?

Sorry Screenshot. Bad writing on my behalf.

Once you have cleaned the leather mist the nanolex on. Then the stains should just wipe off with a damp cloth.

With the Meguiars how old is that bottle? If it is too old it won't work.

I have found it great even on our cream coloured couch.

The Meguiars is about one year old I think. I only started venturing into car detailing in the last 6-12 months. Well I will give it a go in conjunction with the Nanolex sealant i'm about to pick up.

Do you let the Meguiars soak in the leather or just straight on straight off?

I scrub in with a cloth and then wipe off with another straight away.
