Lightbulb BMW X5 F15 Models Spotted in Cargo Plane

BIMMERPOST NEWS
BMW X5 F15 Models Spotted in Cargo Plane
40
COMMENTS

Two F15 X5s were just spotted during transportation in a cargo plane and while their exteriors remain camouflaged (previously revealed exterior photos below), we get some nice clear looks at their interiors.

As seen in previous spy shots, the F15 X5's features a multi-layered dashboard design look and is both more driver-centric and upright compared to the current X5's dashboard.

You can see the black panel display gauges, large free-standing navigation/infotainment LCD screen and new iDrive Touch system.

The US will receive the following models in the first model year: sDrive35i, xDrive35i, xDrive35d, xDrive50i. All of these models will begin production in August 2013, except the xDrive35d which begins production in December 2013. The European models are listed here. The F15 X5 is expected to weigh less than the current E70 X5 and ride on a modified version of the F10 5 series chassis.

Stay tuned here as the all new F15 X5 should be revealed very soon. Thanks to Andrei for the photos.

Those are some pretty up close pics of the interior. Makes one wonder if these photos were purposely leaked. All that was left for the photographer to do was to remove a panel (or two) of camo

Also notice that the U.S. will get a rear drive (F15) X5 interesting to see how it does in the marketplace.

It's really nice to see the backseats were finally given some attention. They were somewhat of a disgrace in the previous generations

I have just had my 2011 X5 for just over two years now and I must say I love that truck. It seems to me BMW is not messing with a good thing thing. This is more evolutionary than revolutionary to keep people like me in the family. I would buy the F15 in a heart beat. It definitely looks promising.

This morning I was admiring those vents in pic 2, glad to see they did not change this formula, it makes the truck look aggressive

Loving the update on the interior. Removed a lot of unneeded dash which really spruces up the overall appearance. Still hating the double vents though...

What engine is that? I have never seen that cover before. That is quite a bit different than the N63TU.

Front buckets look mighty comfy too....I love the comfort seats in my wifes X5...Sport seats in X3 are good, X5 multi-contour seats are 2x..

Looks like the middle two front vents temperature controls are back to roll knob control vs having to go 6 layers deep into iDrive. Am happy for that - similar to the E46.

These pictures must be leaked by BMW

Why is the dash turned on in a car that can't be driven because it is on a fraight pallet?

The photographer had the keys and BMW would not give the keys to the loaders because the didn't drive the car into the plane

This make me think a Internet revealt is only days away. They are teasing us

sDrive35i ? Does that mean a (base) RWD only model like in the X1 over here?

The iDrive screen looks like it can retract into the dash on this vehicle...? Anyone else see that?

I didn't even know sDrive existed on the X models figuring it would defeat the purpose of a SUV if it didn't AWD.

It's an 8 cylinder you can see that on the cover.

No, it could not. It would retract into the ducts. This is the same setup as 3, 4 and 6 series.

How does BMW not go bananas on these leaked photos? Are they deliberate?

Again I don't see MFID / 6WB display in F15. It's not in US spec LCI F10 either. I wonder why!

I think its about time they offer this; bmw is after all, known for their rwd vehicles. It also saves weight without 4wd differentials. Makes sense for people who live in warmer climates, and will be better on gas. I think having a choice is a win win situation, and should definitely be an option for the x5/x6M. It is damn near impossible to use the M's in any bad weather regardless of the awd due to the wide road tires they fit it with

They're like sheets of plywood wrapped in thin leather.

Season specific tires are all that it takes...I've swapped wheels/tires for the winter on most of the cars I've ever owned. An all-season is a compromise all seasons, and if you're trying to use a summer tire in the winter, you're an idiot.
