New Car - what do you get done?

I pick up my new 320i in a couple of weeks.

They've offered me:
  • Paint protection
  • Carpet protection
  • Leather protection
  • Tinting
  • Tyre and Rim insurance (they said there was a 53% take up rate on this)

Does anyone take these up?

I'm interested in Tinting but I'm assuming they just take it to the local tinting shop to get done.

I have a Midnight Blue 320i with Black Dakota leather and the sportline package (red trim).

Looking forward to getting my new car.

I had tinting thrown in. Don't waste your time with the other stuff go to www.superiorshine.com.au email or call Scott and tell him James from Potts Point sent you he will look after you and you won't believe how good your paint will look. Less than half of what dealers are charging and comes with lifetime warranty

dealer's extra sales pitch is extortion and if you add it to your final price, you have to pay for the LCT and Stamp Duty on top. so it's not worth it. tinting and coating will cost less than $1k altogether.

I too took none of their options and won't be on the new car either.

From memory they wanted something like $800 for window tinting. That ended up costing around $250!

From personal experience I can tell you a new wheel is around $900 though.

I looked at the tyre and wheel protection some time ago and thought that the exclusions almost made it worthless. Can't remember the details and maybe it's been improved since then? Like the others, wouldn't bother with anything other than the tinting, just for all in one peace of mind :-)

Got the dealer to tint at a reduced price so I had it done at delivery, and if there are any issues I can just hand it back to them.

Had Opti-coat and interior protection done by my detailer.

Bought the Tyre and Rim insurance.

Not worth the $$$ for what the dealer will be offering. You would be better off getting tinting, paint protection etc done elsewhere. There are heaps of other threads being discussed at length on tinting, wheel protection ...

Polished rims make kerb encounters very expensive. I bought T&R insurance for the first time.

My dealer has thrown in darkest legal tint on all side/rear windows for $400. Seemed quite reasonable. Opticoat will be getting done by a detailer.

Like others I thought about the Wheel and rim insurance, and then looked back over my last 10 years of driving, and this would have come in handy once for a puncture. So don't think it is worth it.

If it pays for one puncture in the next three years it's paid for itself. Fair trade-off IMO.

Didn't take anything up.

Their leather, carpet and paint protection is a complete waste of money and time. You can get better stuff elsewhere cheaper. Their tinting is not bad but far too expensive.

Tyre and rim insurance is the only one worth considering. I bought one for my last BMW and didn't end up using it. Skipped it with this car and fingers crossed.

Another great fix up by Morrie @ Reflection Perfection.
He is doing my brothers F30 on Saturday, hope he does not find these kind of issues with his!

Yes, but as the car is new, I'm not expecting much wrong with the paint.

Oh yeah, seen the one in that thread? http://www.detailparadise.com.au/sho...Cquartz-Finest Dont be surprised! There were a few inconsistencies with my paintwork as well, and my brother has found some in his last night under lights at the petrol station which he aint happy about at all but did not pick it up at the dealers. Given they will correct anything wrong is a good thing thogh and they should do it as part of the service.

My clearbra is being installed by a detail shop so all will be well. They have done many cars for me in the past.
