GPS Mount: TomTom GO + KUDA + Brodit
Well, I have a TomTom Go 700 and I wanted the cleanest mount possible. Looked at various people's solutions and products online, this is what I came up with (price inc tax&shipping):
1) Kuda dash console, $60 2) Brodit TomTom GO holder, $40 The emergency light button is out of line-of-sight but perfectly reachable. 3) Now with TomTom On. The holder's angle is designed for a mounting surface which an incline, but the surface of Kuda is vertical so when mounted, the GPS faces a bit downward. But that actually reduce glare! A view from the outside, looks pretty discrete: A view from the backseat: Last edited by xq_zhu; 08-23-2007 at 03:36 PM.. Reason: Fix picture links |

nice clean looking setup.
How visible is the screen from the driver's seat?

Sorry I have absolutely no knowledge about portable nav systems...but is your TomTom battery powered? If not, could you post better pictures of how you tucked away the power cord from view?

Ah, good point, my headache exactly. The unit has a battery that's good for 2 hours, after that I'll need to recharge it.
However, since the DC plug is not integrated into the holder, it is actually not quite meaningful to have the DC cable permanently hooked. I studied the structure though and it is possible to route it behind the trim piece to the power socket in the glove box (see the PDF referenced by http://www8.garmin.com/manuals/BMW3-...nersManual.pdf this link.) |

Thanks. This is a great solution. I think once I get the optional Garmin swivel base, this is going to look pretty clean. The only thing is the wire unless I keep it running on battery.

I bought the Kuda base mount and Proclip for my Garmin.
I use the flashlight socket for the auxiliary power socket. it's now pretty clean and the unit is powered once i put my Garmin on the base. |

Below is a picture of my brother's install with his tomtom 920. He told me the install was pretty straight forward and he wired it through the dash for a super clean look.

Install was a breeze. Took about 10 min and I did not use a plastic tool as suggested in the directions. I simply used a flathead screwdriver to pry loose the trim and dash speaker / vent. Just be careful not the scratch the trim.

Nice to see another clean setup! The two gripes I have with TomTom is that the wires must be connected to the unit itself rather than the mount, and that the mount point on the back of the unit is too high (designed for windshield mount for sure) so that it hides the emergency light button.
