TomTom ONE XL

Has anyone tried this system yet? It's only $299 at Costco.com. I did a search but didn't come up with anything.

Also, the TomTom web site says the real time traffic runs through a bluetooth connection with a cell phone/pda that has a data plan. That sounds much more elegant than needing the wire/lighter adapter plugged in at all times.

I'm also wondering whether the cell/pda would work simultaneously with that bluetooth in addition to the bluetooth built into the car.

Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks. in advance.

That system is very nice. It keeps it simple and does the job of navigation very well. The UI is easy to navigate and the voice guided directions are excellent. I believe that most newer phones can handle multiple bluetooth connections so that data connect in conjunction with the one to your vehicle should not be a problem.

The One XL is essentially the same as One (New edition) with a larger screen. It is also thicker and heavier, but not more powerful. Worse, its bluetooth function can only be used to connect to weather and traffic service using your GSM phone's data service, But not for hands free calling. Bad TomTom!

For that, you'll need a GO version. The latest GO520/720 is even smaller than One XL with all the possible functions you want for $200 more.

I already have bluetooth with my premium package. I'm just wondering how well the bluetooth for traffic updates works, and whether it will work simultaneously with the BT in the car. For $300, that seems like a good deal, and I don't always have to have wires cluttering the car for short trips.
