New car charges when buying from dealership

Hey guys,

Need your help. Just about to pull a trigger on my new wheels. I got a quote from a dealership on fees due on delivery as follows:

Admin Fee $299.00
Pre-Delivery Expense - 1 & 3 Series $1,295.00
Locking Wheel Bolts $89.50
Freight $985.00
Other Dealer Options $128.36
PPSA due on Delivery $53.73
Fuel - New & Demo Cars $90.00
License Fee $10.00
Security Deposit $750.00

Are these fees normal? Specifically:

1. What are the Other Dealer Options fees? Are there some additional options/fees that I am not aware of (above the options I already ordered)?
2. Any way to get the Security Deposit waived?

Thanks,
HMR.

The admin fee is not bad. You can get this waived as part of your negotiation. Same for gas, wheel locks and mats. I told them I wouldn't be paying for those. The other charges are standard and hard to change especially taxes and fees.

I think BMWFS waives the security deposit if you purchase the 'Excessive wear & tear' package on your lease. Although my dealer never charged or mentioned a charge associated with the wheel locks.

You should have no trouble getting the admin fee waived. I didn't pay one on my F30.

wow. why is the freight & pdi fees combined for $2280, it should be $2095 ... No ? at least that's in Ontario. Assuming you are in Ontario.

Other dealer options are: OMVIC $5; A/C tax $100; Tire Levy $24

What is this Excessive Wear & Tear package? How much does it cost?

Excessive wear & tear is an insurance package that will cover up to $7,000 in wear & tear damages upon lease return. So let say you return your BMW and it has a cracked windshield, dozen rock chips, a few dents and bald tires, you can turn your car to BMW without extra fees ( as long as it doesn't surpass $7,000). Anything over $7,000, it's out of your own pocket. The package is $1,500.

When I ordered my F30, I was told it covers up to $7,500 (with no single repair costing over $1000) and the package costs $1,159.

It might've been $7,500 in damages. But I wasn't told about no single damage can't exceed $1,000. I was told if you bought it, any damage that is done so long as it doesn't exceed the $7,500 your covered. As for the price, I was told it was $1,500.... Maybe my dealer was being shady haha. Either way, I didn't get the package. I got the tire protection one instead, those run flats are bloody expensive

Here is more details.

You should not be paying more than listed. You can actually pay less, with some legwork of calling/negotiating with dealers.
