Front Electronic Module reprogram
Just had my F30 in for a couple minor warranty repairs and also had my front electronic module reprogrammed. Apparently, it is part of a recall. The service guy was a bit vague about what the reprogram is supposed to do. The only difference I've noticed is that a few of my settings on my I Drive were altered, perhaps to their factory defaults.
Anyone else have any ideas? Or had the same thing done recently?

Hi Spikey
Not sure what the recall was for. The link you posted sounds like it could be similar. But I don't have comfort access or extended display to verify these changes.

So on Monday I took it to Stillwell for warranty and yes, they told me about some software re-programming, which could take hours, even 2 days. So I only had a loan car from Stillwell for the day and we re arranged another day and I will have a loan car for 2 days. I have ordered an M5. If they can't supply me, then an M3 or M6. OK, so ore likely be a 116. See what I care!!!! (Actually , I do) My SA was also vague, only reading off the work/job sheet he was given. You know more about it than I did. Now I know a little more. And I thought the upgrade was to boost power & torque by at LEAST 50% - all for FREEEEE!!!!

With the reprogram, one change I have noticed that when I unlock the boot with the key fob it also automatically unlocks the door(s) as well. This is more convenient than having to press the fob again to unlock the doors. (BTW, I don't have comfort access)

Your idrives must be different. I don't have a setting to link the boot release with door opening. Mine is a 2012 is yours a 2013?

Good point. I don't know, but I will find out - or at least try to - when I take my car in on the 18th Dec.
It would be obvious that BMW knows our build dates, but perhaps the update might just change some of what has been explained in the international (main) thread. All I know at present is my car has been scheduled for software/firmware update. Hope it's a good update as I'm very happy with how the car operates.

Not on mine. Better that way as this setup reduces the risk of accidentally locking key fob in the boot when opening the boot 'only'. In my old E90, the boot release only opened the boot. No control over opening the doors at the same time. I had to really think about ensuring I had my E90 key fob every time prior to closing the boot as I could very easily have locked it in the boot.

So anyone else who's recently picked up their F30 confirm they have this setting too? seems kinda trivial to put in an iDrive update? |

The invoice lists FEM reprogramming as Software Upgrade as per BMW AU Campaign. Quizzed the service advisor, and it's for an issue where the wipers may not operate correctly. |

Hey Spikey,
Your iDrive tailgate options looks like it's perfectly suited to an F31, not an F30.

I just checked my Idrive on the same screen and I definitely do not have the door lock and tailgate option. My car was a (early) March 2012 build so the I Drive must have been updated since. Wondering what else I have missed out on LOL BTW do you have comfort access?
