Bluetooth connection is very sporadic
I've got a 2006 325i, no navigation. My phone is a Motorola RAZR V3 with service through Cingular. The problem I'm having is that the phone connects to the car, but sporadically. For example, I leave the house in the morning and there is no connection. Stop for coffee and get back into the car and it connects. My wife has the same phone and she experiences the same problem.
Contacted Cingular and had phones S/W Version flashed. Spoke with BMW's Auto Wireless Solutions and confirmed the phone has the correct version. While in for warranty work at the dealer, they performed a standard scope and didn't find a problem. I'm truly believe it's a problem with the cars Bluetooth since it works great when it actually connects. Has anyone had a similar problem? If so, how was the issue resolved? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. |

I have the same Razr but through Verizon. My SA thought there may be a problem with other carriers and the Razr. My old motorola E815 wouldn't pair, even though many people here had no problem. In any case, my BT has worked flawlessly with the same phone.

I have the Motorola E815 through Verizon and it pairs flawlessly.
My BlackBerry 8703e through Verizon pairs, but I cannot see the address book.

I've also noticed that when the 60/40 split rear seats are down, the connection is more consistent. This leads me to believe that the Bluetooth antenna is located in the trunk. Does anyone actually know where the sensor/antenna is located? 2006 325i, no navigation.

You should try to find someone in your area (or at your school/work) who has a phone that pairs properly with their E9X. Have them try pairing to your car multiple times. This can at least help you narrow the problem.
You could, of course do the same with your phone and their car to confirm where the problem rests. |

+1, I have same exact problem Razr V3 with Cingular.
My phone pairs fine, but is sporadic and rarely stays connected for more than 2-3 minutes at the most. Constant connecting and dropping. Its just annoying. When it works, voice rattles like crazy. Dealer said no issue, but I am taking the car back in next week. I just thought the blue tooth is worthless if this is the way it actually is. I am surprised not so many people have responded that they have same issue.

Any updates on the Sporadic bluetooth issues?
Mine seems to be the car. The phone works flawlessly with other bluetooth devices. In the car, its sporadic at best. Anyone have any updates?

When did you get your car? If you search, you'll see there were a number of issues with Bluetooth in the older E90 software versions. My car was delivered in July 2006 and my Razr works flawlessly. Get a software update for your car.

Bluetooth is sporadic
Yes, I have the problem, we have three motorola phones all new one is a RAZR, the other a 710, they occasionally do the same thing, sometimes they pair sometimes they dont, I am sure its the car, and we have tried to rebond when it fails and the phone says the connection is refused by BMW.

Need to take the car to dealer.
My car will have a PUMA case opened on this issue on Monday. Dealer agrees there is a problem with the car's bluetooth. I hope they can fix this quickly.

Dealer status??
Let me know how it goes at the dealer. It quite aggravating that it connects so sporatically. Whenever I need it to connect is generally when it doesn't connect. My $50 bluetooth earbud connects every single time. There is no reason my $32K car shouldn't connect.

Bluetooth version
Rich, I purchased my 06 325i as the second owner in June of this year. The original owner took delivery in December of 2005. Could be the bluetooth version like you said. The dealer claims to have addressed that when I brought it in for service.

I had the same set up with Razr from Verizon but recently it took more than 1 minute for the phone to pair with BT, is there any thing with BT or should I take it back to dealer and have them check it out ?
