possibly purchasing a demo vehicle

Hey folks,

I've been considering getting a new 328i for a few months now; I recently got an email from mississauga bmw offering a 2012 328i w 6,000km on it for around 48.5k. It has the premium and executive package, bmw apps and extended bluetooth.

Any advice on how much lower you think I could get them to go on this?

They are posting it at $48650, if I build the vehicle online it comes to $49850. With 6000km on it there should be way more of a discount. I would think $38, maybe $40k at most. But I'm not sure. What's the depreciation like on these vehicles?

What do you think? I'm going into the dealership later today to talk with a sales rep.

Is it mineral grey with the sport line package? If so it's been a demo for a long time and they can't seem to sell it. Several people on here have negotiated a good price on it. Ask Maz335i about the deal he was offered on it.

The markup is somewhere around 8.7% on new car MSRP and they've even thrown in cash incentives on this brand new design. Given that it's a demo I would say you should be able to demand a pretty competitive price vs new.

I wouldn't take at that offer.

Things may differ in Canada, but here in the US, one can routinely expect a dealer to knock off at least $2000. Surely you can negotiate to get $1200 off of any 3er on any dealer's lot.

One thing I'm certain is the same in Canada is that if a car dealer is publicly offering $1200 off, they can take even more off and still be willing to sell the car. No seller anywhere will make their first offer the absolute best offer they can do.

That's a horrible deal. I just bought my 2012 328i (luxury line, jet black, black dakota leather, with premium package + heated seats/steering wheel + SiriusXM) as a demo (had 935km on it, never used as loaner, went into service in July, same month I bought it) from BMW Grand River (Kitchener/Waterloo). Before taxes/freight/pdi/fees, it priced out to $48,000, and they gave me $3300 off without even asking.

If I can get $3300 off for a car with 935km, you should get a lot more off for 6000 km. Same dealership listed an Alpine white model similar to mine, with 8,000 km on it, for more than $6000 off! But I hate white, and wanted lower KMs.

Please remember that the warrnaty starts once the car is registered as a demo. So for example if you have 6000 km on the demo the warranty may have already used up 3 months.
You can get a demo model and save money with 200KM to 500KM. The bottom line is the best deals are the ones the dealer has in stock. I picked up a demo with 345 KM on it listed out to over $50K and I got $6K discount.

Definitely true, forgot to mention that. That $6000 discounted Alpine white I was talking about had gone into service May 2011, so essentially it was being offered with a 3 year warranty only (hence the large discount, coupled with the higher KMs).

That's why I opted for the prettier black/black with few KMs and full 4 year warranty. It was only half the discount, but basically a brand new car with uncompromised warranty. I'm happy.

I just purchased a 320i demo. AT with premium package, navi and park distronic. with 12km on the odo, (dealer just started to use the car as service vehicle, so it's brand new) car is about $44200 including Freight before tax. they gave me a $7000 discount. the only thing i wished is they had one with the lighting package. really like those new angel eyes.
