I didn't do ED, but I was in Germany last year about this time. Probably the best 2 weeks of driving I've ever done, the combination of driving on the autobahn & through the German countryside.

Even if you don't do ED, go to the HQ in Munich. At the factory you can do BMW On Demand -- This program lets you rent ANY BMW in the lineup (the E9x M3 + F1x M5/M6) for an hour or the whole day. It was an incredible experience to rip on the M3 and not worry about the police pulling me over doing 125+

I went w/ fam so BMW wasn't the only reason we went there -- Hofbrauhaus, WW II museums/locations (Salzburg, Nuremberg), Ludwig's Castles, etc. There's lots to see & a lot of good tarmac in between each location.

Since you appreciate cars + driving, the thing you'll enjoy the most is the driving etiquette there compared to here in the States.

Congrats!

It's an awesome experience, everybody has to do European Delivery at least once in their lives. It's been almost 5 years since I did mine so too many things must have changed. All I know is that I spent countless hours on bimmerfest's ED forum getting all the info you're looking for, it's probably a good place to start.

Depending on the length of your trip, you should drive from Munich to Berlin. I think it was a 6 hour drive? But it doesn't feel that long when you're on the autobahn! Definitely visit neuschwanstein (sp?) castle. The road to get there has some fun twisties. Enjoy the trip!

ED is amazing! Bimmerfest is a great resource for trip planning and any questions! That's where I learned everything about European Delivery!
I did one in June of 09!

You should try a Performance Center delivery when it gets stateside it's a blast! It's another great experience! They have a forum for that as well over on Bimmerfest!

never done it, but from what i've seen on here, it looks like the most amazing experience ever.

i'm obsessed with road trips, and if i had the chance to do one in europe with my own brand new bmw, i would jump on it in an instant.

my life won't be complete without doing one

Haven't done the ED, but spent time in Munich in 2010.

I recommend staying at the Sheraton - it's across the street from the Museum/Welt and factory:

I rented 3 different BMWs from Sixt (3er; X3 diesel and 1er wagon), and did drives from Munich-Salzburg (90min) - Munich-Nurmberg-Frankfurt-Stuggart-Ulm and then back to Munich - all great little rides (Munich-Frankfurt about 4hours). The rest stops are amazing for food and cleanliness.

You'll definitely want to check out the Hofbrauhaus (and other beer halls) and the WW2 tours are awesome. Don't be scared to visit Porsche and MB in Stuggart - very cool as well.
