Headed to NJ/NY next week...
I'll be up in Newark, Paterson, Fairfield, and Manhattan next week for business. Any suggestions on good places to eat, drink, and get into trouble?

230 Fifth Ave. In NYC. Its a rooftop lounge and is super nice and chill. Also have a clubish scene inside. HIGHLY recommend it.

Hoboken in NJ decent nightlife, $1 drafts Tuesday nights at Green Rock. Brass Monkey + the Standard Biergarten in the Meat Packing District (NYC) are probably your only 2 non-snobby fuck spots, otherwise there's tons of bars/restaurants/lounges in NYC you could pick from depending on what you're looking for.
Best pizza in NYC IMO is Little Italy Pizza at 11 Park Place -- I've been going there for 15 yrs & have met Rudy Giuliani a few times since it's about a block away from the mayors office (so its also a block from the WTC if you're planning on seeing that). I know jack shit about CT though. |

If you like to sit by yourself and enjoy the pleasant air and NYC views, check out the Weehawken and the restaurant with breath-taking views. This is in jersey side, little north of Hoboken.
http://www.loscharritos.com/ If you want have a good time meeting chics, then go to one of the bars on 8th Ave 40-45 streets. This is professional(Suite and Tie) after-work type of crowd. For more younger crowd, head to East Village. Check out some night clubs in meatpacking district. Esp Tenjune NYC. Last but not least, check out if there are any NY/NJ BMW meetups going on one of those days

+100 chicken and rice at 53rd & 6th. dont be shy with the white sauce. I think best combo IMO is - cover the entire plate with 1/4" white sauce, 1 oz BBQ, and no more than 1 tea spoon of hot sauce if you must.

I dunno why anyone would come to nyc to eat food from a cart. If you want to have a good time, hit up Meat Packing District. Gas Light bar is a good place to start and move around from there along little West 12th, perfect area for trouble. My favorite steakhouse is Del Friscos, and my favorite pizza is Artichoke Pizza (a whole pie could cost as much as a steak though). If you wanna get sloppy, Murray Hill and Turtle Bay area are full of bars and good drink deals. LES is a good place too, but thats not my style.

mehh, I've been going there for years, before they had uniforms and printed bags. It was way better than it is now, the quality fell off so bad. Back then they cooked the food right in front of you, now its pre-cooked and they just throw it on the grill to warm it up, if the line is long, your getting cold food. You used to see them cutting the lamb right off of the rack and putting it in the tray, now the lamb and chicken comes out the back of a truck and onto the grill. I prefer the other carts that actually have the meat cooking on the grill, the chicken is seasoned better and the rice tastes better too. Even if it was good, I still wouldnt recommend it to a tourist as a must do, our city has so much better to offer, but hey, when your drunk and you see a cart, its like love at first site.
