Greetings Gents,

We just finished installing this set of wheels and tires for one of our clients.

HRE R40 Forged Monoblock / Aerospace Grade 6061-T6 Aluminum
Spec - 18x10 ET20 5x120 72.56mm CB
Weight info - 20.2 lb/each

Our client wanted no compromises in terms of performance. So we opted for a custom spec of 18x10 ET20 square setup with 285/35/18 Michelin PSS tires to eliminate the factory understeer that is apparent with the stock staggered rim/tire setup.

The end result is a nice meaty stance that offers both form and function. Enjoy the pics!

No spacers, no fender work, no rubbing.

He can go wider in the back, but it won't be a square setup. We can push for more aggressive offset to +15 but he won't be able to rotate the tires.

Looks really good. So nice to see function over bling for a change. By sizing the tires correctly and with the correct wheel offset and stance of the car, an 18" square setup like this doesn't look small at all. I just saw the brand new Boxster at the New York auto show and was bothered by Porsche's use of 20" wheels on such a small car--the big, open barrels with a relatively small 4-piston brake setup swimming inside look really silly.

It's interesting that you're not getting rubbing by using a relatively aggressive offset and tire width. Most 18" square setups are 18x10" et25 instead of et20, and most use 275/35-18 tires. I don't have rubbing with my 275/35-18 Nitto NT01 track setup, so maybe the Nittos run relatively wide and are roughly equivalent to a 285 Michelin PSS?

Josh I may want to do this.....is it only Friday? I would drive down Friday morning...rip...then head back. Let me know the deal. Hopefully this car will be done with the boost by then.

Yes, come on down. I gave Darwin the information last night. Bring a few friends and drive down together, we will have alot of track time and a photo cd from the track thats normally 65$ is included for free.

the color contrast.

I agree with paradocs98 - 18" setups are function over form and if done correctly, just like this R40 setup, they don't look too small on e9x M3s. However, perhaps I'm biased because I have a set of R40's
