Is there any way to get it added after production? My SA is telling me no.

By after production you mean you have the car and you want to add the TCU.

I think your service advisor is partially right.

I am pretty sure you can add a basic BMW Bluetooth module (no BMW Assist) but I have not heard of anyone adding the TCU that is fitted to the cars in the factory.

I just want bluetooth hands-free for my cell phone. Does anyone know for sure if I can get that added? I don't have iDrive, but I'd like to talk on the phone when I need to without fiddling around with the bulky PDA thing (Sprint PPC 6700). Does that include voice-activated calling or anything? What can I get with bluetooth w/out iDrive?

I am pretty sure you can install the Bluetooth module (sometimes called a ULF). It won't have the voice command functionality you would get in a car with the Assist TCU + CCC, but you have rudimentary voice dialing available.

I'm also thinking of doing the same add Bluetooth you need to find out if your car is phone ready ( that it have all the cables) ask your SA to print out for you the Vehicle History Report if you have option # 0640 you just need to go to Bimmernav and get the ULF if not u r F**k
